Riley Boyd has come to Willow Valley out of guilt. He's ran away from his family, job & home. He doesn't talk to anyone about his history. He found a job working for a bakery & is surprised how good he is at it. Abby McAdams is driving him crazy! They have a great friendship developing but he can't help noticing how sexy she is. He has to keep fighting these feelings or it'll ruin their friendship.
Shannyn Leah has given her readers another emotional story. The characters need to fight through their grief & learn to go on. Abby tries to hide her grief as if nothing has happened. Riley wallows in his feelings of guilt & grief. The way these two take on their journey with each other & for each other is incredible. Can Abby deal with it when Riley's past comes back to haunt him or will she turn away.? I loved the updates on the characters from previous books but feel these stories could be easily read as stand alone books.
This is such a good book. Abby acts so strong and like a wild child when she really is like a scared child at times. She is trying to find her place in the family. Riley and Abby are so good together and give each other strength. Riley's secret is big and pieces of the secret have a big impact on Riley And Abby's relationship. There were times I cried in the book and others when I laughed. I loved that I read the books in order as I got to know the sisters better and keep up with their lives. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy of this book and voluntarily read it and reviewed the book.
I received a copy of this book for review purposes.
This time it is Abbey’s turn, one of the youngest siblings along with her twin brother Avery, who’s story is next. She’s broken and lost. The death of her grandmother was the last straw, and even surrounded by a family of sisters with whom she is setting up the soap business she did as a hobby with her Gran, she feels alone.
Riley Boyd had once been restless and free spirited, just like Abbey is now. Whatever life he’d walked away from, and whatever had happened, he’s blamed himself for it, meaning he’s no longer participating in life. He doesn’t even own a cell phone, nothing that connects him to the past life he’d built, or the people in it. It’s a past that he won’t talk about, and only Mrs C seems to know anything about him. She knows about tragedy, having suffered the loss of her daughter and granddaughter in an accident a couple of years back. And she is a beautiful person for Riley to have in his life.
One thing Abbey does know, is that Riley has been the supportive friend that she’s run to when she needs it, and who’s sofa she’s sleeping on when she doesn’t want to be in her Gran’s house by herself. He’s also gorgeous and sexy, and even if she was attracted to him (and how could she not be???), Riley has her firmly in the friend zone. But that friend zone also seems to include heated stares.
Lakeshore Candy takes us behind the energised persona that Abbey projects to her sisters and gives us an insight into just how close she was to her grandmother. A well written continuation in this addictive series. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book. 4.5 Stars.
