Lalaloopsy Silly Hair Jewel Sparkles
on December 27, 2011
I bought this doll for my 5 yr. old granddaughter for Christmas and didn't realize it was one of the hot items for little girls. She was thrilled with the doll. It's very sturdily made and I like that it doesn't have the typical doll hair for styling. The "hair" is thick, plastic-coated bendable wires that stay in place very well. She can handle the doll's hair easily and the head and strands of hair are large and easy for her to manipulate. There are lots of accessories that can be bought for play with the doll, including dress-up clothes and wigs for little girls to match their dolls' outfits. This doll is much more age-appropriate for 4-8 year olds than the so-called fashion dolls like Bratz, Liv and Barbie but it's not as babyish as dolls that cry, wet, etc., but would be fine to use as a "baby" doll. It's sturdy enough that smaller children (like 1-3 yr olds) can play with it as long as they don't have the "beads" that go on the doll's hair. Overall, I'm very pleased with the dolls' sturdiness and it's appearance. My granddaughter is really enjoying playing with this doll. The packaging of the doll is kind of excessive and I would recommend that when buying it as a gift, to open the package and cut the plastic inside and make sure the doll can be easily removed from its package, then close it back up for the child to unwrap and unpack. That said, the packaging is quite beautiful and, I'm sure, one of the major expenses in making this product. I removed the molded handle from the top of the package (it looks like a piece of yarn with several buttons strung on it) and plan to use it as a handle on a purse for my granddaughter.
