Product Description

Product Description

Do! Re! Me! Baby will have lots of fun making merry music with Octotunes. A different note is played as you push each tentacle. This soft, lovable character also teaches baby about nurturing play. Comes complete with a song book. No batteries required.

Amazon.com

The colorful, plush Lamaze Octotunes has a big friendly face and eight colorful tentacles. Very young infants will love the bright colors and the vanilla scent, but the best part--for older babies who can use both hands to grip--is that Octotunes will respond to squeezes with a different note from each tentacle-horn. Great for budding musicians!

Give Cuddles, Get Music

As baby gets older, Octotunes will reward the child's squeezes with tunes--or just reward snuggles with tootling goodness, which helps baby learn how to nurture. In the meantime, you can squeeze Octotunes' tentacles and watch your baby's eyes light up, especially during tummy time.

Learn to Play Songs

Octotunes comes with a songbook for older kids, who can follow the color coded directions (matched to the tentacle colors) to play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Mary Had a Little Lamb." Octotunes is 12-1/2 inches high and 10 inches across at the base. It comes with a 90-day limited warranty.

Over the years, I have purchased DOZENS of items from Amazon.com, but this is the very first time I have been inclined to write a review on one of the products I bought. The Octotunes Toy is NOT for babies. I bought it for my 6 month old daugther because her father is a musician and I thought I could start her learning about music early. Yes babies might like the softness of the toy, and the bright colors, but if you think your baby will be making music with this thing, you are WRONG. My husband and I both had difficulty making the tentacles BARELY squeak... and even if we did, we could hardly hear it. There is no way a baby or even a toddler could do it. If you are looking for a MUSICAL toy for your baby, this is NOT for you! Not worth the money!!

I purchased this item from Discovery Channel Store after reading the rave reviews posted there. (Their description differs a bit from the one here) "Each of its eight legs creates a different, soothing musical note when squeezed,".......People this item does NOT create anything close to what could be considered music. It squeaks. It's a cute toy, but be advised that the "soothing musical note" is a squeak like that of a doggy chew toy and that sound is not soothing. My rating would have been higher but due to the description, I had expected sweet, soothing bedtime snuggly for my niece and this is another noise-maker to drive her parents nuts.

Great for stimulating baby's brain and getting him to vocalize (yellow with face). Legs allow for adjustment of eye level with baby. Easily placed on side to mirror baby's face when laying. Downside, sometimes the legs don't make their sound when squeezed.

I love this octopus! I think I like it more than my baby does. She is still too little to play with it because it is kind of heavy (for a 7 month old) and the tentacles and a little tricky to squeeze to make the sound (even for an adult). That is why I gave it 4 stars. Other than that, I like the texture of the fabrics used, the sounds it makes, the ability to play different simple songs and seeing how my baby’s face lights up when I squeeze one of the tentacles makes me happy.

My (very strong and big for her age) 10-month-old wants to make music so badly with her octopus but the legs don't toot so easily--it takes a strong (adult) hand to make music. Does anyone else have that problem or do we just have a dud? She's had this since birth and has just shown an interest in it in the past month or two. It's a big toy for an infant, heavy and not easily dragged around. I wish it responded to her squeezes. Again, she's got a strong grip but gets frustrated with it pretty fast.

This sure looked like a great toy but when we got it we were so disappointed. The legs are supposed to make certain notes when squeezed, however it is hard to make it work for an adult let along a child. We never play with it. It just gets thrown around.

We have bought several of these in the past. The previous generation was better quality. It actually played an entire octave somewhat in tune. We have bought two of this version. One was very off pitch. The other had horns that didn't work and the ones that did were even more off pitch. It is very disappointing. Not only is it awkward to listen to but you can't play songs like you're supposed to.

The smell of this is delicious. This was one of our favorites as my two were babies. I loved it so much that I had to buy it for my niece.
The legs (horns) are perfectly tuned. One can easily pick out the tune for toddler favorites like Mary had a Little Lamb.
