I received them in less than a week and they were exactly like his old slippers, except CHEAPER! They come in a nice sturdy box, are really well made, nice thick sheepskin lining, a sturdy sole that can handle a trip to the mailbox even in wet or cold conditions. My husband is a 14 in most brands of footwear and the 14s in these slippers are comfortable and a perfect choice. I can't think of any negatives (other than how they end up so stinky after about a year of wear, but that happens with any shoes like these).
My husband wears a 10-1/2 shoe. Actually before he developed gout he wore 10's. I ordered these in size 12 based on previous reviews. My husband's feet are pretty narrow. When he saw these he did not try them on because he saw that they were size 12. I told him I had ordered them larger because of what other reviewers had said. He tried them on, but even "oversized" they put pressure on his toes. The toe area of these slippers is not highly domed, but rather low, more fitted like a dress shoe than a slipper. (If they had been a tad smaller I would have kept them for myself since I wear from 9-1/2 to 10-1/2 in women's shoes and usually at least a 9 in men's shoes - depending on the style. They were at least a size to a size and a half too large for me - making the size 12 more like a 10 to 10-1/2 men's- but remember, they're low height in toe area and not particularly wide overall).
Sadly, I am not sure what advice to give you if you are ordering these. I know (from excursions to beaches, etc.) that many men have disproportionately "large" great toes as compared to women's feet. If you have large great toes these might not work out for you. If you can find the right size for you, and they do work out, I cannot imagine a purchaser not being happy with these.
OK, review time. Beautiful slippers, so comforable and warm. Can be too warm at times for some. My feet tend to sweat but it hasn't seemed to be an issue with these slippers. They last me 12 to 18 months but I wear them every day. Soon as I walk in the door off go the shoes on go the slippers. I also wear them to the store or to check the mail from time to time which I am sure shortens their life span. For me the fit is true to size. I wear a 12 extra wide and the 12 fits great. They are a little tight at first but they break in to be super comfortable. This latest pair are a little tighter than usual but that seems to be due to the lining being especially thick in this pair. These slippers are often hard to find and WELL worth the money.
If you want your feet buried in fur and you order 2 sizes bigger than what you really are, you'll probably like these.
