About the Author
Land O'Lakes was organized in 1921 by individuals who recognized the opportunity that marketing sweet cream butter could represent to Minnesota dairy farmers. By replacing the sour butter that was commonly available at the time with high qualilty sweet cream butter, the organization would increase farmers' income and improve the quality of their products. In 1924, the name LAND O'LAKES was selected following a nationwide contest. From those early years, when the founders literally changed America's eating habits with the introduction of sweet cream butter, Land O'lakes has grown into one of the best known, most respected and most sucessful food and agricultural businesses.
It wasn't long after Land O'Lakes achieved success marketing butter that the organization realized it might be able to do the same with other food products. The company has become firmly established as the premier dairy foods marketing cooperative, supplying a full line of dairy products. The Land O'Lakes Test Kitchens serves as a valuable source of appealing recipes for these popular dairy products.

I've used it so often that many pages are soiled.
I've made the grilled sausage patties on rye that my kids and husband loved.
Another favorite is the hearty bacon potato chowder. You add sour cream near the end and it gives it
a most unusual flavor. I normally won't eat sour cream but I love it in this soup. This is a very
hearty and wholesome meal . Yum-yum. I may make some tonight.
Also, the spicy sausage & potatoes in a skillet recipe is one of our favorites. It has small red
potatoes, mild Italian sausage (which is reasonably priced) green pepper and onions. Delicious
with rice, a staple in our home and nice salad. I had a young girl visit recently and my son told me
she wanted to borrow one of my cookbooks, before I ever saw which cookbook, I have many, I asked him
if it was a blue cookbook and of course, it was this one. I went out and bought her a copy on amazon
so she'd have one for herself.
