Arrowroot Powder (also referred to as Arrowroot Starch or Arrowroot Flour) is extracted from the rootstock of the arrowroot plant. Arrowroot powder is a relatively flavorless starch that is easily digestible and frequently utilized by people with dietary restrictions. Arrowroot makes a clear gel and is also used to prevent ice crystals from forming in ice cream. It can be used as a gluten-free thickener for those with a gluten intolerance.

This is a go-to for deodorant recipes, for good reason. Actually, I always have some on hand for both food and skincare recipes. Arrowroot not only helps to serve as a thickener in this deodorant, but it also has the power to help draw out toxins. Sweet! Since when we sweat we are eliminating toxins, why not help draw them out!?
Homemade Deodorant (4oz)
•4oz+ jar or tin (something like THIS would work well)
•Double-boiler (I make my own with a glass bowl over a pot)
•Kitchen scale (like THIS; BTW…having a scale is a great investment in your kitchen and I use mine almost everyday)
•30g Coconut oil (my very favorite hand-pressed coconut oil)
•20g Shea butter (this is a great shea butter)
•10g Carrier Oil (I like almond oil like THIS, but you could use many oils that are liquid at room temperature…THIS is an excellent guide for carrier oils!!!)
•10g Beeswax (like this sustainably sourced, quality beeswax)
•15g Arrowroot powder (super smooth arrowroot, like this)
•15g Diatomaceous Earth – Food Grade! (aka food grade, like THIS)
•5 drops of Vitamin E (this is a great vitamin E oil)
•20-25 drops of essential oils (aka EO, which are totally optional, but I love them…like THESE oils)
Been using this for a dry shampoo, and it works great for a much lower price than the store-bought aerosol cans.
I have darker hair, so i mix equal parts arrowroot powder, and unsweetened cocoa, adding a few drops of peppermint and rosemary essential oil. I use an old cosmetic brush to dust my roots.
It was package well. It came in a small plastic baggie with a label on it. I don't know if I'll purchase it again for the baby powder because it seems to work just as well with out it. Maybe I will search out more homemade products with arrow root starch and update my review if I get any further information on it.
