The Land's Whisper is an extremely well written book. The writing is descriptive and creates a visual for the reader from the get go and in such a way that one feels as though they are on the journey with Darse and Brenol through the various terrisdans, each land clearly different from the other. Attention has been given to the various character backgrounds and are developed well, each one unique. I was drawn in immediately to the action and found it hard to put the book down. The author's creativity and imagination are extraordinary. I found myself wondering 'how did she come up with this?' The concept of the land 'speaking' to Brenol was intriguing and the power it brought to him had me on the edge as he had a choice, to use his power for good or evil. The relationship between Darse and Brenol was one of many aspects of the book that I enjoyed. Seeing their growth through the struggles, journeying through the different lands, and their reactions and emotions to what was playing out before them, what each would go through, was well written, surprising and not predictable as some fantasy books can be. I was invested emotionally in these characters and those they encounter on their way to save the young girl, I won't spoil anything! I am by no means a professional book reviewer but I do have the freedom to choose what I read and felt strongly enough about this great read that I took the time to write a review. I have become a fan of Ms. Kennedy and highly recommend this book to all who enjoy a great fantasy read. I shall not forget a comment regarding the cover, it is a beautiful depiction of a key part of this story. I must now wait patiently and earnestly for Book 2!

Really good fantasy series!

I just finished the last book of the series, so it's been a while since I read this one. But what really matters is this book was good. Every time I had to take a break, I was itching to sit back down and read again. Each of the first two books left me excited for the next one, and I read them as they came out so I had to WAIT for them to be released.

The imagery in this series is amazing. I really felt like I was there in this beautiful world filled with unique and interesting creatures. I am a fantasy lover and this one did not disappoint.

I'm ready for the movie, so read this book and make it really popular so that can happen!

"The Land's Whisper" is a compelling fantasy that leaves you anticipating the next instalment of this three part series. Kennedy has created a unique world for even long-time readers of fantasy. However, you do not need to be a fantasy fan to enjoy this book. It is light on the descriptive language found in many fantasy stories, so many who shy away from fiction will find this refreshing as they are allowed to fill in the blanks without feeling bombarded by adjectives and over-embellishment. That is not to say that there are not powerful images within the book and some readers of high fantasy may find themselves wanting more. The story is the focus of this book and it is one that is appropriate for both young adults and older audiences alike.

I just finished reading this book for the second time. That alone is huge praise from me. I am rarely tempted to read a story more than once. I will read this one again. The characters are developed at a beautiful pace, allowing you to get to know them like you would a new friend. The true nature of each is revealed and tested throughout the story, leaving the reader fully invested in their struggles. The writer makes an utterly foreign world seem familiar and does a beautiful job of illustrating the interaction between people of different cultures. She has a true gift for crafting images through unusual turns of phrase. A thoroughly enjoyable read that will keep you up reading "just one more chapter" even the second time through.

This was a great read. The first few chapters were a challenge because the unfamiliar language used for measurements of time and distance. As the book continued the storyline began to create a beautiful picture of the land, Massada, as well as those who lived their. The writing is unique, descriptive and captivating, drawing the reader into the story and the world of Massada. The characters are complex and continue to develop throughout the book. There is no crude language or sexual content, but some violence. The ending was well written wrapping up the first book in the series but leaving the reader excited for the next stage in the journey.

I look forward to the rest of the series and wait patiently for them to be published.

Intricately crafted with meticulously chosen words to create the most incredible, fantastical world. Lightness and intrigue are balanced with the heaviness of authentic emotions and the reality of goodness and evil. A true pleasure to read, with so much redemption, as long as you can handle some moments of heaviness. I'm waiting eagerly for the upcoming release of the next in the series. To parents, I would recommend for mature young teens and up, as there are some scenes with graphic depictions of evil and injuries--but it is extremely clean compared to other fantasy.

A very good read! Held my interest, kept me up too late at night and left me excited to read the next book in the series. A great weaving of the struggles of human morality into a fascinating new world. I've got to admit that I'm a lover of fantasy books getting turned into movies (Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc) and I imagined how cool several scenes in the book would look on the big screen.
