First off: I am very pleased with this ukulele. It looks just like it does in the picture. It is a lot more simple-looking than I though, but takes much effort to get those chords right!(: I did noticed that the strings got out of tune almost every time I played. My suggestion is to keep tuning them. Because the strings are new, they need some time to adjust to your playing. I've been playing and tuning since I got my uke and now only have to tune my C and E strings periodically. That brings me to the actual tuner itself...It is NOT what is advertised in the picture. I believe one the other reviewers said the one this company sends you is a guitar tuner. I'm not sure what kind it is. All I know is that it does not work with my uke (I had to look up an online tuner and play by ear.) The case is very cute and looks durable, although again, the tuner advertised isn't exactly what they send you. Mine has a grey patch on the front. This doesn't hinder the use of the case in any way...just a fyi kind of thing. And last the wipe. It's fairly big (bigger than my hand) and is nice and soft. Although I wonder why a uke player would really *need* a wipe. I used wipes while playing the cello and violin due to the rosin buildup. But I'm not complaining. I guess it'll be useful if/when my uke becomes dusty?
comes with aquila strings
tuner is adequate
needs to be tuned before playing and tuned often during the first week or so, but this is the case with any uke
Overall a great product for the price
The case is a soft gig-bag.
The tuner works wonderfully.
The strings take FOREVER to quit stretching. We have to tune it every day.
A friend of mine bought this exact model and she said the store told her to swap out the strings because the ones that come with it are not very good quality. I haven't done that yet. I keep hoping they will stop stretching.
The reason for 4 stars is: I prefer the Makala brand. Our other ukulele is Makala and it has better sound than the lanikai.
I would definitely recommend this one if you can't find a Makala ukulele.
As a music teacher, I am using ukulele now throughout most of my work day; especially in elementary general music.
After a presentation about ukulele at a local NAfME conference, I was motivated to purchase one myself and try it out, and I am glad I did.
Lanikai is the brand recommended to me, and the brand I have recommended to others. It's probably got the highest value over many other ukulele manufacturers. While it is not a top-notch, professional-quality instrument, you get well more than what you pay for.
Don't be fooled by other brands that may have a slightly lower price--they are bound to not hold a tune, fall apart, or have other defects.
For a ukulele hobbyist, the Lanikai LU-11 or LU-21 is the absolute best fit. Great quality for a very reasonable price!

I am over the moon about my new Uke! A few things after 1 day with it. If you are a first timer, like me...don't be discouraged by how long it takes you to figure out tuning. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Gina
