I would like the motors to have more power to them, it is super critical to get the balance precisely dialed in, particularly with the weight of an action cam, or the motors will struggle to make up for the balance point. If your motors are making any strained buzzing noises you are not balanced properly. They are nearly silent when balanced well. Have patience and spend time getting the neutral balance dialed in, and this will delivery very nice results.
I happen to have 18650 batteries all over the place and that option for this was a big win, they give a ton of capacity and I recommend you consider going that route, the extension tube really isn't all that much longer.
With the phone, the grip fingers are pretty shallow and don't have a lip on them, so the phone will really fit best with no case on it at all or a very minimal, rounded profile silicone bumper type case. If you have a rugged case on your phone you will have issues with the fingers grabbing well and also it's quite weight sensitive so adding any weight makes getting it balanced neutrally enough super critical.
If the motors were say 20% heavier in power, it would make the unit more convenient to use as the balance wouldn't be such a critical issue to dial in. Small weight changes require fiddling with the balance again.
Also a quick release to swap between a phone and an action cam would be a _huge_ improvement, as it stands you need to unscrew using hex keys to swap between them, and of course re-balance again. For the action cam, a skeleton frame that would mount and then the phone, it's own skeleton frame for the gripper, that would quick mount to the base of the gimbal would be ideal.
The included charger for the batteries only worked once. I was given a link to order a different charger. It's way better and works great. Still waiting on the promised refund for that sadly. But still overall I use the gimbal whenever I take video now. YouTube: gcomfx for samples
This gimbal is not worth the price. There are two videos on this reviews and the movement of the camera is the same as how my videos look. For this price there are better gimbals out there.
