An antidote to the quackery proffered by self-proclaimed "progressives", pseudo-intellectuals, charlatans, and clowns who tend to dominate most of today's mass TV media and who have been fairly successful at dumbing down about half of the inhabitants found in the states united.

First off, this isn't a traditional book in the sense of "The Constitution of Liberty" or "Ameritopia", but rather a quasi-academic reference that walks among some of the key pillars, the key ideas and institutions, which underpin Western civilization.

In other words, it's not really something to be read from start to finish and then cast aside, but rather a work that needs to be kept handy and referenced from time to time when one is curious about the serious arguments that differentiate those who consider themselves "conservative" and those who proclaim themselves to be "liberal".

(Interestingly, "The Lanterns" points out that the opposite of "liberal" is not conservative, but rather "authoritarian" and that the opposite of "democratic processes" is not Republicanism, but rather "totalitarianism".)

"The Lanterns" covers a lot of ground at a fairly high level and it definitely helps cut through the fog conjured up by self-proclaimed "progressives" and mass TV media clowns such as Van Jones, Cass Sunstein, Peter Orszag, Andrew Stern, Bill Ayers, Gyorgy Schwartz, Stephen Lerner, Fox-Piven, Bill Maher, and Keith Olbermann.

It's a great value for the money; a definite plus for all those under the sullen skies of Obamanomics.

This book is a pamphlet in the style of Thomas Paine It is about truth. By contrast, it is necessary to slander truth if you are opposed to it. This book lays out simple truths and signposts that telegraph the gradual eating away of our liberties in this country. How many federal laws were there when this country began? Three? How many are there now? ANSWER: Over 4500. At least that is where the Heritage Foundation stopped counting. No, this simple book lays out some very basic truths in simple language. This book is not complicated. Our Constitution was not complicated. Men have made America complicated. Just try to navigate the complexity of the websites for the new federal health LAWS. I wish I could get a paper copy of this book to send to my friends. "Truth is the daughter of time." The truth is coming out.

If only more Americans would read this little book, our country wouldn't be in the fix it is in. The leftists have no plan for when they destroy everything, and this book is the recipe for what patriots will need to do in order to rebuild this once-great country. Why I say "once-great", is a great country wouldn't have elected Barack Obama to be its president, not once, but twice. The man might has well be from a different planet, because he doesn't know anything that is contained in this wonderful book.

This list of short comments on the principles of liberty are useful to read on their own but also make for a nice daily inspiration - one page a day to keep your focus. The ideas are arranged so one point flows logically into the next so the themes develop a natural progression.

This book is a great read for those thinkers out there who would like to see how the writings of the past relate to our current political situation. Aaron uses well-researched quotes and references from highly regarded historical authors and writers to show that things haven't changed a whole lot from hundreds of years ago when governments grew too big and began to over-control their citizens. The book demonstrates how the modern progressives use the same old techniques of liberals from different periods in time and in different countries, and how we should learn from these techniques. Aaron is able to show the charade that is continually perpetrated on the public by the progressives, who use the media to help with their plans to to take away the many freedoms we take for granted. The book is easy to read on a cell phone- each page has an informative quote or thought. Thank you Aaron for getting this book out to the public, an informed group of citizens is one of the ways to fight tyranny.

Although it has many excerpts that we can value, I found myself wondering "WHY am I needing this format of small snipets of wisdom/propaganda? Yeah i did come away with the feeling that I was not really learning about the writers experience but a set of goals that he holds dear and although many of them are dear ,I did not ever find out why he came to this conclusion. It is a "thought of the day book" not the"read cover to cover" book.
