This sub has a pretty good kick to it. The sub seems to favor the low end of the audio. Sometimes, you can feel the kick from the sub (mounted behind my seat) more than you can actually hear it. After making adjustments with it's settings I was able to get desirable sound after turning up the low pass filter all the way. The volume control is very handy when you don't want to hear lots of bass when listening to talk radio.

UPDATE: After 25 months of regular use, I am pleased to say that I have not had any issues with this product. The sub and it's control control knob work the same as they did when I first installed it.

UPDATE: After 37 months of regular use, the sub works just the same as new. The volume knob has some issues. sometimes the knob loses it's connection... which results in the bass going to it's full setting... which isn't that loud, but still annoying for classical music or talk radio. A quick wiggle of the knob, the connect comes back and everything goes back to normal. It should be noted, that I used a grinder to trim the knob housing to fit in a spot in my dash which makes it a bit fragile. I'm assuming this is the reason for the issue. Again, the sub itself has no issues despite being zip tied to the back of my truck's bench seat for years.

Back in the 90's, Lanzar was introduced as a premium car audio brand and had a great reputation. I had several Lanzar speakers and had friends with Lanzar amps, all of which performed flawlessly over the years.

Fast forward to a couple of months ago. My wife and I bought a '93 Jeep Wrangler as a toy with no stereo at all. I installed a very capable Sony head unit and some custom speaker enclosures housing 6.5" component drivers that I mounted on the Jeep's roll bars. Where's the bass? With interior space and $ a concern, I went on the hunt for a compact subwoofer to compliment the component speakers. When I found the VCTBS8 Vector for this crazy-low price, I was a little skeptical, but the brand name carried a lot of weight with me and after reading the reviews I decided to purchase. I removed the driver's seat and mounted the Vector to the bottom of the seat, firing downward. I can still spray out the interior of the vehicle with water and not worry about getting the sub wet. Also, considering the vehicle does not lock, it's completely invisible to would-be thieves.

It does more than I had hoped -- the frequency response is excellent for such a compact unit, and the little volume knob that comes with it is very handy when listening to different types of music. I have gotten nothing but compliments from passengers in the vehicle. Bonus - when camping, I used to take a crate full of large/heavy weather-proof battery powered speakers to hook up to my Ipod, now I don't need to - this thing puts out enough bass that we can just use the Jeep as the campsite sound system. Also, the REAL RMS power output of this unit is 95 watts.

Summary: Great for COMPLEMENTING the bass output of other speakers. Amazingly compact unit, great for limited-space installs.

I purchased this subwoofer for my truck. I had limited space, and I did not want to spend a lot of money. This subwoofer is well made, easy to install and sounds great. You really can't beat it for the price. I have already bought another one for one of my other vehicles.

this sub is not the type to make folks notice you at the red light but it does add a nice bottom end to the factory stereo in my 06' F350 truck. it fit behind the back seat and was easy for me to hook up. I paid $110 for it and feel it was worth the money. Ford superduty trucks do not have a lot of room for a sub so this worked out well for me.

It's a tiny amp/sub combo- fits right under the seat in my 2011 Impreza (it's only 13 inches from side to side- the 14.5 measurement is the little bracket that sticks out). It won't shake the neighbor's windows, but that isn't what it is supposed to do- it's an 8" sub with 200 watts RMS. It fills in the lows perfectly, but that's it.

I installed this sub-woofer in my Pontiac Fiero in less than 1 hour. I mounted the unit on the inside of the firewall, behind the back of the passenger's seat. Hookup was pretty easy, the worst part was finding a separate fused 12 volt connection on the fuse block to connect to the power input terminals. I then hooked up the line outputs of my radio to the line inputs on the sub-woofer, connected the electric antenna lead of the radio to the remote power input, plugged in the remote level control and then powered everything up.
After playing with the crossover, boost and main level controls a couple of times, I found the right balance of sound for my type of music, the car acoustics and road noise. Once you get the sound balanced out, the presence is very realistic. I found that if I reduced the bass on the radio and increased the boost level a little on the sub-woofer, I could get cleaner sound at higher volume levels. Even with the unit flat against the back of the seat, I could still get a very nice, natural sound.
Overall, the unit seems very well built with good quality parts. The controls on the amp give you a wide range of sound customization. You can adjust it from an obnoxious 'boom-boom' to a refined, natural sound. The only negative I can find is that the main power screw terminals should be covered or insulated to prevent short circuits from tools, seat parts, gum wrappers and other things under and behind the seats where this amp is intended to fit. I just wrapped some electrical tape over them for safety. This same unit is also sold with some name brands stamped on it at a higher price at the time I purchased it.
