Top customer reviews
The unit comes with a small CD containing a drivers, as well as a program used to manage the device itself, available networks, etc. The instructions are pretty straight-forward, but it does require at least some computer background to install everything properly. I also found that the program is slow, cumbersome and doesn't really seem to... work? It runs in the background whenever the adapter is plugged in regardless and only needs scraps of memory to do so, but I have an easier time just using Windows' built-in network interface. Once everything is installed, however, it's just a matter of sticking this in a USB port, waiting a few seconds, and, if in range of a familiar network, you're back online.
Signal strength is average at best, and that's with my computer and our router separated by all of 10 feet and one ordinary, modern bedroom wall; but the connection has been adequate for typical student use and some light online gaming. Again, probably the router and not the adapter. For lack of any other comparison to confirm or deny the connectivity issue, 4 stars for the price.
