First: [Service] Battery arrived quickly and nicely packaged. Although, not identical to the original, it fit perfectly and everything. Honestly, you really can't tell the difference unless inspected closely. So if you are worried about mis-matched color or it not fitting...you won't have that issue with this battery.

Second:[Battery] The original battery for a 2008 era MacBook Pro would need to have the adapter connected the whole time. If not, it would shut down within seconds. So, I decided to get a replacement. Looking over prices and such I decided on this particular battery. Works and fits, but doesn't hold much of a charge. Depending on what I'm doing on the computer it lasts about an hour, sometimes less.

The computer is used mostly for CG (computer graphics) work and some gaming. Doing either drains the battery much faster than if I were just surfing the web or checking email. So, if that's all you will be doing (email and such) than you may be able to squeeze a little more charged up time from the battery. Either way, it still dies pretty quickly compared to my other laptop. However, I will say, although it doesn't hold more than an hour charge at least I don't have to keep the charger plugged in the whole time.

Battery installed no problem. Fits and looks well. According to coconut battery utility, it says battery capacity is 5600 mAh but so far after calibrating 3 times it's only charging up to 5200 mAh (92%). Perhaps with a few more calibrations it might come up to 5600 mAh capacity. It seems to last around 2.5 hrs at this point from what I can tell when using strictly on battery power when performing calibration. For the price, it's a good deal for someone who may not use (or need to use) their Macbook Pro on battery much, or if at all. I, myself don't use my Macbook Pro on battery very often so it's not a huge issue for me if the length of time the battery lasts isn't a huge huge amount like higher priced batteries.

UPDATE: Have cycled the battery 5 times now and it only charges to 92% capacity. Says it's rated for 5600 but is only charging right now to 5191. Thought maybe after a few charge cycles it would charge to 100% capacity, but it has not.

I received the battery by USPS 3 days after I placed the order. It was in a plastic wrap, in a box, in an envelope. No instructions included but batteries are kind of self-explanatory. I put it in (completely flush with the base of my MacBook Pro) and it had a 63% charge. I let it drain down to 0% and then charged it back up. This morning it went from 100% to 9% with 3 hours of constant use. So far, this seems to be a great bargain- batteries on the Apple site are $129.

This battery arrived quickly and fit in my 6 year old Macbook Pro without issues. The system profiler showed that the battery is new - a cycle count of 1, but the capacity was reported as 4420 mAh. This is about 80% of the original Apple battery which has a capacity of 5600 mAh. After 3 full charge and discharge cycles the capacity is 4417 mAh. I am a little surprised that some people are seeing the capacity increase after a discharge cycle because my understanding is that lithium polymer batteries lose a little capacity each time they are cycled. In summary I am satisfied with this battery, it has 80% of the capacity of the original for one fifth the price.

This battery didn't last us long. Actually, the battery started to get round after a while. The laptop wouldn't sit straight on a table because the battery became rounded. On top of that, the charge didn't last long before it had to be plugged in again.... then eventually it had to be plugged in 100% of the time.

If you're looking for convenience, this battery isn't for you.

I have an ANCIENT 2007 MBP. I've since bought a replacement MBA, but wanted the MBP to be in good working order as a back up and also to save older docs/media that I don't want filling up the hard drive on my MBA. When I first tried to insert the ATC battery, it seemed to "snap" in OK although it was slightly askew.

Since my computer's previous battery had been totally dead and I had trouble restarting my computer, I used this technique I found online to restart the computer/insert the battery: Take charger and battery out, hold power key down for 10 seconds, continue holding power key for another 10 seconds while plugging in charger, then let power key go and hit power button again once. Plug in battery once it's on to keep the computer from slowing down. This started my computer, but the fans were whirring about a thousand times a minute and the computer didn't recognize the battery at all when I put it in. I assumed I got a bad battery and went to take it out.

That's when I got pretty annoyed, because the battery was wedged in there and I really couldn't get it to move. I eventually pried it out with a thin metal nail file and was lucky not to scratch up my computer (although really, it's 6 years old, so I couldn't get too worried about it). I decided to try to re-insert the battery really carefully, making sure it was totally level as I did so. This time, it worked and the computer recognized the battery right away. It is a slightly different color from the body of the MBP and doesn't fit into the slot for it perfectly (see photos) but for the price on a barely used computer, it is fine. Will report back if anything changes, although given that the last OEM Apple battery I bought lasted less than a year, as long as it keeps running I'm not too worried.
