Product Description

how banded crickets are different

Have you ever been frustrated with dead crickets?

We were! We were always getting dead crickets.

After years of shopping around, testing other species, and learning more about crickets, we found Banded Crickets Gryllodes sigillatus! These crickets ship well all year long; they weren't dying when the temperatures would spike a little bit, or if the temperatures unexpectedly dropped. In most climates, they would consistently arrive alive and fresh.

They were also living much longer than other species we had experience with.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap but bad batch.
By Michael Penny on July 4, 2019
This is our second time buying crickets from Josh’s frogs. The first experience was great, but this time around not so much. Pictured is 250 out of 1000 Dead crickets, there were more but were removed before being pictured.

I have contacted Josh’s frogs and will update this review once I receive a response.

*UPDATE*
spoke with a representitive was told they ship 10% extra to cover dying crickets. However we had over 250+ crickets that died, which left us with roughly 700-800 crickets, which exceeds 10%. we werent offered even a partial refund or maybe another batch of crickets, we will be going with another company.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware
By gorgyk on August 20, 2019
I placed an order for large crickets. I had placed two previous orders with great success with a third order placed even though at least half of the crickets in the prior orders were not the one inch as advertised and ordered. Third order arrived with not one living cricket. I contacted Josh's Frogs and was told because of the temperatures, in the 90's which was information that I provided in my complaint, they replied back stating that it says in their sales post twice, which I did verify. It was at the BOTTOM of their ad and it was the last bullet point as well in thier description. My bad! Well, I find it hard to believe that they didn't take any responsibility considering that it IS thier line of business getting good product to the customer. Bugs are NOT my business. No where does it say this it is the BUYER'S REPOSIBILITY that the crickets will be shipped if the temps are too high. Obviously with my third order, I was looking to be a long time customer. They didn't seem to care. While I wouldn't expect a full replacement, I would have like to think they would have worked with me (when the weather cools off a bit) and maybe send another package at a reduced rate or something to that affect. OR reduced rate spread over 2-3 orders. Read the other 1 Star reviews. There's a reason for them. Seems they aren't hungry. If business slows down for them, at least they'll have crickets to eat!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not cold/ frozen: dead with molded food & more poop than crickets in the box
By ammie nelms on October 11, 2018
I tried adding the bigger video showing most of the crickets were dead, box had more poop than crickets, the food was molded, the end of box were now sealed properly, they arrived mostly dead. Could they be frozen/ cold? No. After 5 hours in a warm home the alive number never changed. I took them out of box and put them in a warm cricket bin. 2 hours later : still dead.

Chameleon and geckos will not eat the dead ones so my beardies got a feast but what I planned on lasting a week has now turned into a day maybe 2 if they do not eat it all in one night

Disappointed. And it’s thursday so ordering from another site isn’t going to arrive till next week and I live an hour from the closest town so very disappointed 😞

3.0 out of 5 stars Some times great, some times NOT so great
By Jack & Jackie on August 25, 2019
My first two orders of 1000 crickets arrived in late June and mid July with no problems. They came via the USPS. My last order of 1000 crickets came August 23rd with over 200 dead and more still dying. Delivered by FedEx. They appeared to be eating each other. There was no food or source of moisture in the box. Just lots of poop and dry, dead crickets. I contacted Josh's and was told that it was 96 degrees here on Friday. I live in SE Texas. It was that hot or hotter when the other two batches got here. You have to contact them within an hour of receiving and send a picture to get an adjustment in price?? I can only order from Josh's in November, December, March and April. 😢
UPDATE: Josh's Frogs gave me a partial refund for the dead crickets, JUST THIS ONE TIME. Thanks.
