SHORTER VERSION:
Buy the damned thing. You’ll love it.
LONGER VERSION:
It all started when some klutz, namely me, bonked the glass French press against something hard. Not surprisingly, what cracked was the French press and not the something hard. That was what brought to me Amazon in search of a replacement.
Three things jumped out at me:
1. Stainless steel French presses dominate the positive reviews. It seems reasonable to conclude either that metal French presses perform well, I’m not the only klutz in Amazonland, or both.
2. Reviewers of even highly-rated competing French presses complained about eventual rust. Coffee Gator’s product is the only one I saw claiming to be rustPROOF. If that’s true—time will tell—it probably means that they are more generous than competitors with the chromium in their stainless steel-chromium alloy. Pure stainless sooner or later rusts unless you take pains to clean it, thoroughly dry it, and on occasion apply some sort of treatment. If, like me, you prefer to rinse and be done with it, rustproof is the way to go.
3. Complaints were few, but Coffee Gator demonstrated in their handling of them a cheerful commitment to making customers happy. I felt assured there was no risk in trying their product.
The Gator showed up at my door four days ago. It does exactly what it should: Brews great coffee. And it doesn’t crack when I run around the house bonking it on things. Well, I assume it doesn’t. There are still a few things left in my house that I haven’t tried bonking it on. I’ll get to them.
Some reviewers complained that the metal interior unduly cools the coffee. My experience is the opposite. It keeps coffee warm way-the-heck longer than my glass unit did. Of course, physics demands that a smidgeon of heat transfer from the liquid to the unit’s inner wall, but that’s about as far as the heat is going to get: Double-wall insulation holds it right there, next to the coffee, keeping everything inside nicely hot. Unless you keep your empty French press in the fridge between uses, you’ll be fine. (If you DO keep it in the fridge between uses, why on earth?)
One reviewer complained about the sound the plunger makes against the inner wall as you push it down. All I can say is that this reviewer, who I’m sure is very nice, probably shudders at the sound of a gentle breeze moving across a chalkboard.

I've used several of the standard glass french presses over the years and they work good, this just works BETTER! The double wall vacuum insulation keeps the water temp at an even point so it extracts the maximum flavour from the coffee grounds, and when it's ready, it's still nice and hot. The container is well made and uses great quality materials, so it cleans up nicely, but more importantly the stainless double screen are REALLY well made and not only does it do a great job of filtering the coffee, but based on the quality, I expect it to last for years. Oh, and being all metal, I would comfortable taking this campling or anywhere else as I don't have to worry about the glass getting broken!

My french press just arrived this morning and I decided to give it a try. The french press itself is very solid and it looks really nice. The coffee brewing process was easy to follow and I love that the press came with a set of instructions. This is my first french press so I had no clue what I was in for. My coffee turned out amazing, very smooth and lots of flavor unlike my keurig which always gave me a very watery, burnt tasting cup. I actually gave away the keurig this morning I was so impressed with this french press.

Coffee gator products are hands down the BEST for their price!! I have had their pourover for almost a year, the cold brew rig and now I added a French press to the mix. I love these products! This French press looks so badass! I love the steel metal and the dark gray finish...it's a very slick looking press. I love that it is super insulated and leeks the coffee hot inside it for a very long time. If you're looking for top notch coffee brewing devices, look no further! Coffee gator rules the game!

Received this French press about a week ago and so far I am very impressed.
First how it is built. This thing feels like it is a tank. It is heavy and solid. If I expect anything in my kitchen to survive a apocalypse it would be this. The plunger is also soilid. So far no hint of any issues so far.
How easy it is to use. It’s a French press so I would hope it would be easy and it was. When pushing down the plunger it does take a tad of effort but that’s good and fine. Your not suppose to push it down fast anyway. This French press made some good coffee(helps I am using high quality Colombian coffee)
Lastly on cleaning, so simple. Took me less then a few minutes to properly clean it.
I will continue to us this French press because I love coffee and will update this review if anything changes. So far though I am very happy with this purchase.

I Hate It.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 15, 2021Color: GrayVerified Purchase
I’m genuinely kicking myself for buying this.
I used to have a glass cafetière at the office. It cost less than £10 from a common UK supermarket. Sadly it got swept up in the Covid mass office exodus. Regardless, I’m familiar with using a cafetière so thought “why not! At least I won’t need paper filters anymore”. For some stupid reason I didn’t just buy another £10 one. I bought this. I hate it. I fully understand why people complain about the colour versions peeling. The coating feels awful - the box says “dishwasher safe” but it doesn’t feel like it is. The main issue I hate this item is the smell. Since when does “Military grade stainless steel” smell? CoffeeGator would have to answer that. If it’s stainless steel then a good rinse with hot water should get rid of coffee. Who ever scrubs a teaspoon after stirring coffee? Yet after EVERY use I have to scrub the life out of this because it’s like the metal is reacting to the coffee as something is causing a very unpleasant smell. That’s 20 minutes of washing per MUG of coffee - the alleged 34fl oz version makes a good 16 fl oz (So “Grande” for those who go to Starbucks) sized mug or if you don’t mind the ‘coffee silt’, you’ll get a “Venti”. The description states 4 servings, so 8.5fl oz per serving - approximately 250ml. A cup. Who uses cups for brewed coffee! Ignoring that the last cup would be full of sludge! Anyway, capacity is only an issue because of the level of between use cleanings needed!
The filter is the worst, after use it has the same nasty sharp chemical smell as those cheap toilet fresheners! I’ve used it 3 times and never again. Buy a cheaper version, then you won’t be so disappointed if something isn’t right.

First impressions were pretty poor the items arrived covered in some sort of oil, this wouldn't be a problem as you'd expect to clean things to get the manufacturing gunk off however what ever the oily substance was has stained the small coffee container. That container is pretty pointless itself really not storing enough to be worth it.
The overall design looks nice and has some features such as two mesh screens to cut down on coffee grounds. However in practice the extra screen doesn't stop more ground getting through and just makes it harder to clean. The powder coating on the cafetière looks good but I'd question how long it'll last as the small container is already flaking and on the cafetière there is a sudden stop to the powder coat which is ideal for flaking. I'd recommend hand washing this only and being very careful as once it starts going it will look terrible.
The heat insulation is not all it's cracked up to be, doesn't seem to hold its heat any longer than any other.
Overall an expensive item for what it is

Does not hold the heat, no good for second cup of coffee

I ordered for a gift after seeing the positive reviews and I sadly don’t agree. The feel of the cafetière isnt great, what really let’s it down Is the claim it keeps coffee hot for 60 minutes. Even after ten minutes it’s Luke warm at best so we can only use it for 1 cup. What I expected was to be able to top up my coffee but now I have to microwave my second cup which isnt what I expected. I have written to the company and will update if they have any suggestions but I do put boiling water in first to warm the container but it makes no difference. Was expecting so much more and really disappointed.update I am being sent a replacement which is excellent customer service so will update if this one works. UPDATE the second works much better I wouldn’t say it lasts over 30 mins but it’s great for what I need. Excellent customer service

I enjoy most Coffee Gator products, having a couple coffee containers and mug. This is a good item also. Im not sure if id pay the current £40 price tag as i got it on a lightning sale for just under £20 and that im happy with.
Personally i think the lid could be a bit more tight but i havent had any leaking issues.
I found it does keep the coffee inside warm, i do advise preheating it, just boiling water in for a minute or so before starting the coffee making process.
I do recommend this product but if you can snatch it at a lower price than £40 it would be more worth it.

This is a great cafetiere. I was a bit cautious about using stainless steel instead of the usual glass but there is no difference as far as I am concerned.
The grey colour is okay - it was the only one in stock at the time and I was desperate, otherwise I would have waited for something a bit more cheerful.
The mini storage canister seems superflous to me, but I use it for otherthings.
