The fit is what you would expect EXCEPT that this trench is small in the chest and shoulders. If you like to wear sweaters or are more apple-shaped than pear, I would think about buying a size larger.
This trench has a pull at the waist line. This lets you adjust the waistline for as much cinch as you want. Note that the pull is on the inside! so there is nothing dangling on the outside of the coat.
--as noted above there is pull at the waistline. This is composed of a sewn-in pocket through which a cord is stretched. You can cinch this with the black buckle end clamps.
--the collar is doubled over and very well sewn.
--there is yoke lining at the color --which is black with white polka dots.
--there us also interfaced/lining at the front edges.
--the hood is lined.
Almost everything is double stitched, and where it makes sense the finished edges have piping.
--the hood is attached with 5 buttons.
--at the throat there is a loop-catch.
--slash side pockets which are reinforced and lined.
This is really an amazingly well constructed trench. Every seem is well sewn and nearly all seems are double stitched.
I love the styling AND the fact that it can be machine washed. The ONLY drawbreak is that it is tailored to be a bit small in the shoulders so that chunky moms and those who are apple-shaped might want to consider a size larger.
I think this coat is darling, and the only issue I have is the tightness around the shoulders. If I hold my arms out straight, the jacket is tight across my upper back and the material digs into the inside front of my deltoid muscles. I enjoy this coat for walking around but wouldn't want to work in it or do any activities requiring a lot of upper arm movement.
The coat is nice looking as long as you don't button it and lift your hand up. IT has a weird fit. The hips and chest were ok but the under arm portion and the shoulder were slightly tight. So it may be uncomfortable to layer this on top of a sweater and button up on a cold day. I am also not a fan of the waist. It doesn't have the traditional belt that most trench coats do but a drawstring that can be adjusted from the inside. I don't think its as flattering as the belt buts its a different style i suppose.
It washes really well so thumbs up for that. The sleeve can be adjusted as well which is nice and the hood can be removed which is what i prefer unless its raining. Over all i think its a nice looking trench coat and i would recommend it. Cutting 1/2 star for the funny fit around the shoulder and 1/2 for the price.
I'm 5'2" and typically wear a medium. But, in a trench coat, that usually means that the arms are too long. Not on this! The arms are perfect for me, and every other aspect of this coat fits well - shoulders, torso, overall length, etc. I love the versatility of the coat as well - the drawstring cinch at the waist, sleeves that adjust to 3/4 length, two different looks for the collar, and the removable hood. The texture is comfortable, with a water resistant quality without being stiff. It's a great windbreaker and offers a touch of warmth without being too hot.
If I can keep this one from my daughters, this could very well become by favorite lightweight coat!
The sleeves roll up neatly, which is nice in warm weather, but I wish the same lining used at the back of the neck had also been used on the lower sleeves so that rolling them up wouldn't expose the seam. Since the three rows of buttons only close the coat to the waist, a hidden snap provides a final closure six inches below the last button. It works, but I don't really understand why the coat doesn't just have four rows of buttons. In conclusion: I don't find it particularly stylish, but a total stranger on the street stopped me the first day I was wearing it to demand to know where I'd gotten my coat, so maybe I'm just out of touch.
