Editorial Reviews

Every once in a great while, a book comes along that absolutely guts you. One that you can't put down, although your heart is breaking and you feel physical pain from the emotional roller coaster you are on. A book where you have to step back from reading for a day or two to recover, to mourn, to grieve, and get all your feelings back in order. Larkin's Letters is that book.
Jax Jillian does a phenomenal job of drawing the reader into this love story. This is an incredible book, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.  --Readers Favorite

About the Author

Jax Jillian was born in Albuquerque, NM but before she turned a year old, her parents moved east to Harrisburg, PA where she was raised. After graduating high school in 1995, Jax attended La Salle University (1999, B.A., Communication), Temple University (2001, M.Ed, Sport & Recreation Administration), and Central Pennsylvania College (2005, A.A.S, Physical Therapist Assistant).

She settled in Philadelphia, PA with her husband and son before she became a writer. Jax found a passion for motion pictures at a young age when she remembers "getting lost" in films, and that passion ultimately led her down the path to writing. she loves "getting lost" in her writing and particularly loves writing heartfelt love stories with a touch of tragedy which she believes is the key to truly reaching readers.

Jax is the author of Larkin's Letters and Ryan's Letters, two contemporary romance novels that have seen early success from reviewers, with both averaging 4.8/5 stars on Amazon and Goodreads. She is currently writing her third novel and aspires to write a screenplay one day.
When not writing, she works full time as a physical therapist assistant and as a mom to her three-year-old son.

This book will shatter you. There are no words to describe it's beauty, love and just how wonderful and amazing the story is. Ryan is soo soo amazing, kind, sweet, beautiful inside and out. and Larkin is gorgeous both inside and out. their story is beautiful, kind, romantic, heart wrenching, wonderful, sad and incredible. Have kleenex at the ready because you will surely need them. It's like a beautiful love song that you wish would go on forever.

Larkin and Ryan were best friends since childhood. they took different life paths but never lost touch with one another. They supported one another, was there for each other no matter what and loved each other so deeply that there wasn't anything they wouldn't give up for each other. they believed in one another and were each others belief and cheering system.

suddenly Larkin becomes ill and there life is put into a tailspin. Ryan sacrifices everything to be with Larkin when she needs him the most. as they are together their feelings change and they realize they love one another. That is not to say obstacles aren't in the way. Abigail and their fears of losing their best friend. but they do come together and are together in such a beautiful soul shattering way. all this is conveyed in letters that Larkin has left for Ryan her best friend and husband after she is succumbed by illness. As ryan gains strength from the letters, he remembers the moments of heaven Larkin talks about and it helps him to heal. I think the most beautiful letters were the last two. One about their renewal of vows and hers on the plane. Also Ryan's letter to her was gut wrenchingly beautiful. This man loved with all his heart and soul.

He can't let go of her because of fear that she is not happy.

“Love is home. Love is laughter. Love is an embrace. Love is the foundation of our soul. Love is the engine that keeps us motoring through life’s journey. You’re my love, and you have given me reason to motor on through life as long as I have been able to this past year.”

Larkin’s Letters starts out feeling like a typical, emotional romance but morphs into so much more. It follows the story of Ryan, a famous actor, and his love and loss of Larkin. Ryan and Larkin were best friends their entire lives. Once Larkin is diagnosed with Leukemia, however, their relationship changes. This story really makes you think about how much you take for granted in your life and how strong love can be.

I loved that both Larkin’s and Ryan’s voices shine through in this novel. Larkin’s letters give us insight into her deepest feelings, while the book also focuses on Ryan’s memories of their time together. The transition between the two is seamless, contributing to a deep understanding of the relationship.

I also liked that the relationship was very realistic. It wasn’t a perfect relationship, and there were many problems that Ryan and Larkin faced. I liked that Jillian didn’t focus only on the beautiful moments. I liked that it felt real.

This book is truly an emotional roller coaster. Jillian does a great job at showing a tragic story in a beautiful way, verging on an almost poetic style at times. There are some really nice moments that are strengthened by Jillian’s emotional descriptions.

The only thing that bothered me was that Larkin chose to ignore her family at the end in favor of Ryan. I felt like this was a bit harsh and out of character. Nonetheless, the strength of the story overall and the excellent writing allowed me to overlook this.

This was an Exceptional love story that will make you think that Love and Loss is a wonderful journey worth living no matter how short the journey. This was a very emotional book, full of heartbreak, it will leave a lasting impression. Very intense and shattering. Need to make sure you have lots of Kleenex and you definitely want to read it alone. It's very hard to put down.

" Larkin, all I ask is that you give me today so that I can prove to you that I am your tomorrow"

As Ryan Boone struggles to come to grips with not being able to keep a promise he made to his dying wife, Larkin's Letters propels readers into the mind of Ryan as he struggles with frequent visits from her ghost and a series of letters she leaves behind. Ryan worked hard to become one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors, but no matter how busy or famous he became, he always remained loyal to his childhood best friend, Larkin James. When Larkin is diagnosed with leukemia, Ryan sacrifices his career to be by her side and in turn realizes how much he had always loved her. Throughout Larkin's sickness, Ryan promised that he wouldn't let her die alone. But we learn that not all of our promises are within our control.

This story tugged at my heart. It filled me with so many emotions it's hard to describe in words. I recommend to everyone specially to those who like me love a beautiful love story. As we see Ryan struggle with loss and heal by dealing with the loss of his true love through Larkin's Letters we fall in love all over again with the people in our lives. Make sure you never take a day with your loved ones for granted. Let them know how much you love them everyday.
