The equipment I'm using gives me signal strength for NOAA channels and uses the scanner antenna for those channels. Guess what? The Tram brought in the closest one at the current vehicle parking, and that's about it. It did bring more during driving, but bare with me on this controlled comparison.
I installed the Larsen, without making no other changes with ANYTHING.
Right off, I had strong signal on 2 weather channels, mid strength on two others, with a total of 4 channels of 7 coming in. Wow!
Now, further testing will need to be done with all other frequencies (Fire, EMS, Police, and DOT) But so far, really, to bring in weather in itself (160mhz) much stronger than the longer Tram, I'm optimistic.
