YOU REALLY NEED TO BUY A LASER POINTER TO GET THE FULL USE OUT OF THIS SYSTEM LIKE I HAVE!!! I bought this to mainly practice drawing from a holster using the timed mode and the only downside to this target is the countdown on the timed mode goes to quick where u can’t really hit start and then holster ur weapon and get ready to draw it in the countdown. I countered this by buying a laser pointer and using it to hit start while already having my gun in my holster ready to go. I have only had this for a week and have already noticed a drastic improvement in my draw time and accuracy from different distances. Also I have probably shot around 1500-2000 shots in my first week of owning this and have only had 3 shots on target that failed to register which I believe was due to poor lighting. Overall this is an amazing training tool if you are new to ccw or just want to practice in your house without leaving your room or spending money on ammo!

Another addition to the Laserlyte line.

This listing is for the target only. It comes with batteries but does not include a laser module (needs to be purchased separately).

I can wholeheartedly recommend the Laserlyte LT-PRE laser module for use with any of these laser targets. It has a few key features that make it far more user friendly than other models:
1) it's finger adjustable for calibers from .380 or 9mm up to .50 so you can use it in various different platforms including the plastic trainers without having to buy individual modules for different calibers (or needing a tiny screwdriver to adjust for different bore sizes)
2) it has an on/off button as opposed to needing to unscrew some modules and/or remove the batteries to turn them off
3) it has elevation and windage screws to fine tune the aim/point of impact

First off, since the overwhelming majority of Laserlyte target reviews seem to neglect mentioning one very important (IMO) aspect, I tested the maximum target sensor diameter on this target, and it's about 4" in diameter.

As shown in the picture, there are white rings on the target area. A hit anywhere on the largest white ring (up to 1/16" outside of it) will register as a hit (and of course, any hits inside that will register). This outermost white ring measures exactly 4" edge to edge, giving a radius of 2" from the center.

On my target, the sensor is asymmetrical. The top half of the target will register hits to about midway into the outermost red part of the target, increasing the target radius to almost 2.25".

The bottom half of the target doesn't register hits that far out. On the bottom half, the hits must be within about 1/16" of the outermost white ring, with the exception of the 5:30 section (5:30 on a clock face) which will register a hit midway into the outermost red ring.

In comparison, the sensor on the Laserlyte Plinking Can targets is an oval approximately 1.5" high by 1.7" wide.

I find the 4" diameter target size to be a much better size even out to 30 feet for reaction/draw use, where the much smaller plinking can targets would require much more precise aim (or placing the targets much closer to the shooter).

There are 2 modes of operation for the Quick Tyme target. The Timer mode and Target mode (selected by shooting the lower right Set Timer/Reset target. When the counter in the lower center shows 0.0 it's set to Target/Practice mode. Shooting it again will display 9.9 which is the Timer mode).

In the Timer mode, shooting the lower left circle marked Start/Display, initiates a countdown from 5 seconds with a visual display of progressively smaller lit rings of LEDs on the target at each second of countdown, with the visual countdown indicator ending with 1 lit LED in the target center, followed by a beep that begins the shot clock. You can watch the video on the Laserlyte website to see what this looks like.

The shot clock starts counting time in 0.1 second increments starting from the beep until the target is hit. A hit will produce a beep and flash, stopping the shot clock. You have a maximum of 9.9 seconds to hit the target before it automatically stops the shot clock.

In the Target/Practice mode, you can shoot the target repeatedly (it won't beep or flash after each hit). You can then shoot the Start/Display target on the lower left and the target will light up your hits consecutively for up to a maximum of 25 hits. This provides a good tool for accuracy practice, especially when paired with the fine point of aim/impact adjustability of the LT-PRE laser module.

I gave the Quick Tyme target only 4 stars because I think it would have been even better if Laserlyte had programmed a Quick Draw/Reaction time mode without the visual countdown, i.e. you initiate the target and at anywhere between 3-8 seconds, it randomly produces a flash and beep to start the shot clock, measuring your reaction time/quick draw and fire from that random flash/beep to the hit on target. That coupled with a shot clock that can measure to 0.01 seconds would be a GREAT Quick Draw practice tool/game.

Yes, you can shoot the Start/Display then close your eyes and wait for the beep, but since the countdown timer is a fixed 5 seconds, you can anticipate the beep.

The best way to use this seems to be pairing it with other targets, i.e. initiate the timer, then shoot other targets ending with this one to see your elapsed time for all targets. That of course, requires you to have/purchase additional targets.

Overall, this is a decent practice tool that also works as a fun (albeit expensive) game.

New LaserLyte target gets LazyLyte after being on for a few seconds.

I wanted this to work to add to my array of other LaserLyte targets ... but noo. Out of the box installed the included AA batteries (new Energizers dated 2023). Unit turned on. Took 5 shots ... 5 lights displayed. Took 10 shots ... 10 lights displayed. Yay! Took 10 more shots ... 4 lights displayed. wth? 5 shots ... 2 lights. err, ok. Changed batteries to brand new Procells. 5 shots ... 5 lights. whew. 10 shots ... 5 lights. huh? 5 shots ... 3 lights. eh? 3 shots ... 2 lights. 10 shots ... 3 lights. whut! Switch to timer single shot mode and it only registers 30% of the hits. Turn the unit off then on and it works 'ok' for less than a minute before deciding it's too tired to register all the hits again.
I have years old ReactionTyme targets that still work perfectly, but LaserLyte discontinued those. Unfortunate.

Meh. Great concept, but for the price it has some serious flaws.

I love the concept of this product. That being said, I have a couple gripes:
- The device is light sensitive. Too much sunlight in the room renders it useless.
- It can be a bit finicky with the SIRT training pistol. (yes, I get that SIRT is not a LaserLyte product).
- The countdown timer for the shot clock is WAY too quick (as someone pointed out in another review). This makes the product very difficult to use while holstering, as you have to reset it with your training gun, holster, and ready in less than 5 seconds (IIRC more like 3 seconds).
- For the overall cost I'm not impressed. If these bugs were addressed I would find it worth the steep price, but kinda have a hard time recommending this to friends at the moment (much like I was with their Steel Tyme system, which I also reviewed and actually returned).

Used with the company's laser training cartridge this is very handy and teaches a lot about the firearm being used. It is excellent double action practice, and with individual cocking (an external hammer helps!) can be used very easily for training from a cocked state. Haven't tried it yet with a striker fired pistol. Initiating the 4 second delay to an initiating "beep" for timed firing requires a "shot" into the setup detector, which is small, so one has to be very close, or very very accurate. But with little work, it can be used for timed draw and firing with a record of the shot placement. The standard setup to just record shots (to the system's limit) is very easy to use and useful training. I think of this as a significant "part task trainer" - no recoil, no muzzle blast, but very useful indications of where shots are going. An unanticipated benefit is that the laser illuminates for 1/10 of a second (ish) and what you see is not only the first point of "impact" but a brief trace of one's follow through - steady or NOT (a streak from point of initial shot placement across the target face) Only the initial point of impact registers. There is also a larger or more "detector dense" version of this system. Greater cost, and possibly worth it. However, we are very happy with this part task trainer.
