UPDATE: 6/24/2013 - This fan got a real workout last summer (2012) and was excellent. It's back in service in 2013 and is still working great, It's light in weight yet really pushes some air. I really like how easy it is to adjust the fan angle and on low speed, it's quiet. I bought another of these fans last year and would buy yet another if I needed one. It's a great fan for the money and although I did have reservations about the on/off switch quality and placement, it's not really been an issue after all.,
The summer of 2012 has been a sweltering affair for much of the country. I needed a fan that would move some air around in our air-conditioned house to better distribute the cool air from one area to another. I also wanted to use this fan in my bedroom at night. Prior to purchasing this fan, I bought an oscillating tower fan for about the same price. It was terrible. It hardly moved any air at all, was not very well-made and I returned it the same day I bought it.
This fan was purchased at a big box retailer and so far so good. It is lightweight, well under 10 pounds, and has a very convenient and comfortable carry handle. I did notice that Amazon sells another Lasko fan with a different model# that appears to be the same fan at a lower cost. It's the Lasko 3300 Wall Mount Fan. I called Lasko to ask about this and was told that the 3300 has been replaced with the A20300. It is essentially a model# change only, otherwise it is identical to this model in size, appearance and function.
The Lasko A20300 fan pivots within it's housing which is the primary reason I purchased this fan. It's extremely helpful to be able to pivot the fan to direct the air flow. At night we point it straight up to circulate the air in our room without having it blowing directly on us. It's very nice that way.
The fan has 3-speeds but the placement and operation of the control is the weakest feature of the fan. The control is essentially at the back of the motor on the outside/back of the housing. Although there are markings on the control ring to indicate the setting, it is near impossible to see them given that the fan is probably going to be on the floor and you will be stooping over to turn it on, off or to change the speed. I was also not very impressed with the build quality of the control mechanism. It seems very flimsy.
The cord is sufficiently long, I measured it at 6' 6". The plug is internally fused for protection against fan overheating and shorting out. It is not user serviceable however.
The fan is a little deeper than your typical box fan at about 7" of depth. It stands 24" tall and is 24" wide.
It's entirely plastic other than the motor itself and that makes it quite light.
-Light-weight makes it easy to move around
-Very comfortable built-in handle
-Pivoting housing gives great flexibility in directing air flow
-There is no easy way to take off the grill to enable you to clean the fan blade.
-The speed control is awkwardly placed and not very sturdy.
For the price I paid, this fan represents a great value and is a very nice fan overall, despite the few weaknesses I mentioned. I found nothing else in this price range that offered better performance or functionality.
I will update my review if needed to reflect how the fan holds up over time.
UPDATE: July 18, 2012 - Here is the procedure to remove the front gril. This will enable you to clean the fan blade.
1. Unplug fan
2. Place fan face down on floor.
3. Remove the two plastic knobs at the 3 and 9 o'clock position on the yoke and remove yoke from fan housing.
4. Remove the 2 screws that attach the handle to the fan housing.
5. Remove the 4 screws around the perimeter of the fan housing.
6. You should now be able to remove the front grill to facilitate cleaning.
Will post a couple pictures for you to get a better look at it. I would recommend this to anyone in need of a fan. Don't hesitate, buy it.
It's a bit on the large side for indoor use in a small apartment, but I don't care because it's also very powerful, even on the lowest setting.
It is very light and easy to move around in spite of its size.
It dropped the temperature in my bedroom by two full degrees without my touching the thermostat, in only a couple of hours. So it is very good for the electric bill.
The design is great for people with children or (like me) pets. There is no way to knock this fan over with the way it is shaped and the fan blades are well enclosed away from little fingers and paws.
I love that I can tilt it toward the ceiling to maximize airflow in the room, or down toward the floor for drying after a good mop.
It does make a bit of noise, but it's a soothing white sort of noise, and fine for leaving on all night while I sleep.I quite enjoy it, actually.
I did not get any kind of discount in exchange for my review. Just really liked the product.

Usefulness: I would say it is very useful. As described above it is the only thing keeping me from sweating with the AC being out. I hate sweating so I am very happy with this purchase. We use it during the day in the living room, and at night in the bedroom to help us sleep. It is just loud enough to help us sleep.
Pros: Works, spins and blows air, No rattling noise. It is light and easy to carry, plus because it is white it’s harder to trip over.
Cons: You are not supposed to move it when it’s on. I always move a fan when it’s on. It blocks the way for me to get out from my computer desk. I move it anyways and its fine so far.
Recommend to a friend: I would recommend this to a friend.
