Top Customer Reviews
The noise from this fan is great. It's a low "whoosh" rather than the high-pitched "whine" you get from a lot of small fans.
Keep in mind that this is an "air circulator." What that means is that it pushes a narrow beam of air from one side of the room to another. That may or may not be what you want.
If you put this fan on the floor in the corner of a room and point it at the ceiling in the opposite corner of the room you can essentially replace a ceiling fan. Or you can push air from one room to another.
You could also point it directly at you and enjoy some REALLY serious airflow, but then nobody else in the room will get much air - like I said, it's a pretty narrow beam of air.
You can point this one at a ceiling corner and it will do the whole vornado whole room circulation thing, too. Gentler than having it directly on you.
Only negative is that it's a little loud at the higher settings for a small bedroom. Maybe it's designed more for family/living rooms? I just keep mine on low all the time.
After careful consideration of reviews, I went with this Lasko model, which was almost half the price of the Vornado which has similar specifications.
So far, 5 stars from me, here are the simple points:
- Moves a 'column' of air - very effective when compared to a box fan, can really move air from one room to another space, or circulate air within a room very well
- 3 speed settings - setting on 'low' still moves a lot of air and is a pretty tolerable noise level, a nice constant 'whir' , no annoying other sounds
- Settings 2 and 3 for fan speed are considerably louder, and I don't use it since it's too loud for what I use it for, and I don't need to move that much air anyway
- Remote is simple and works well
What I wanted is a simple fan that moves a good deal of air from room to room, without any unnecessary noise. This has worked out very well so far, and I'd buy again.
It's probably 13 - 14 inches on the actual fan part with easy controls and a nice remote. It's not as "room filling" from a noise perspective as I generally like... but in all honesty it does a more than adequate job in producing white noise, I just think I'm a bit extreme in that regard.
The one thing I do notice is how much colder it can make a room overnight. Usually I turn on the fan for noise but not blasting right onto us while we sleep. Which means, we don't get a huge benefit in cooling other than having the air circulating. With this thing, I can honestly see a big (5 degree) difference in the morning compared to what we were getting with my old fan.
Fits my purpose, not too large, loud enough and cools your room. If you're looking for a whisper fan, this isn't it. But, if you want a nice strong fan to give you clean white-noise, this is a good bet.
This fan has a nice sound to it while running (low). I use it a lot during the summer to keep air moving in my bedroom.
It also puts out a very good amount of air for its size while on high, very impressive.
The remote is flawless ( when I have not lost it somewhere ) and the hour timer is awesome. I love that I can have this fan shut it self off after 1,2,4,6, ect ours after I fall asleep. Saves myself some energy.
The engine seems super solid, when you turn it on , its ON, and not whinney about getting up to speed. I would say it has a quality engine.
For the price ($44) you cant go wrong. Honestly, if you want to buy the cheaper one for $30 because you want to save $14 you might be sorry. I was, and I am glad I got these.
Now, if I can just find a place that sells extra remotes... mine is gone again.. good grief.
