Take one star down because they are slightly larger than a couple of other 4-feet ion fans with slimmer profiles. I also own one of those, but I don't like the noise that it makes. Even at the lowest level it's still louder than this fan at highest level. A bit of trade-off I guess. I would imagine for a slimmer fan to compensate the noise while keeping the same air flow would be to increase its height. So, a 5-feet fan, anyone? I would buy it in a second.
The fan is making weird annoying noises-I sleep with my fan on every night. Have had this for only a couple months...not happy.
Really not super impressed with this fan. Feels super cheap. Wanted a taller skinner fan for our bedroom mainly because of look. We have two other lasko fans at work that are hefty and work great. The remote on the other fans works great. Everything about this fan screams cheap. I should have just stuck with the other model. Might return. This is only night one so we will see.
Knocked one star because:
** it does not save your settings from power cycles. Meaning, set the oscillation and turn on the Ion and power off, then power on, and it forgets what you just set. I'm not talking about a power outage or unplugging it. This is every time it turns on. We have to turn on the oscillation and the Ion. Why can't you just remember what I had set like every other fan we have ever owned??
** The remote needs to be pointed pretty much right at it. It's weird really... we have it in our bedroom and if it's oscillating and 45-degrees away from you the remote will not work. It has to be pointed pretty much right towards you (+/- 8-degrees maybe?). Not usually a problem but if it turns off while facing away from you, you have to go to it and manually turn it on. Which is weird.
Assembling it takes 6 screws and about 3 minutes. It is very sturdy and not easy to tip over. Oh, and the remote conveniently clips onto the back of the fan. As for the Fresh Air Ionizer, I have no clue what benefit it is providing ... but the blue light is pretty when it's turned on.
I have read some of the other reviews, and at this point I can honestly say that I have encountered none of those significant issues. Like I mentioned, I have only been using my new fan about a month and except for the remote - a minor frustration I can live with - I am very satisfied with my Lasko 4820 Tower Fan. If things change over the upcoming months, I will let everyone know. For right now, the fan does the job and keeps me cool!.
