So I picked up this little Lasko fan - and am I glad I did!
I used to have a floor model near my work table and it was always blowing papers off the table or making them flap endlessly - and even at its lowest speed, it was like sitting in a hurricane.
Not with the Lasko. Its grandiose name "PLATINUM Desktop Wind Tower" should be replaced with something like "Personal Cooler" - because that is what it does.
The unit is about six inches in diameter and just shy of 14 inches high. The plastic exterior is in the ubiquitous "platinum" so familiar to computer users. Build quality is surprisingly high. The two switches, one for power and the other to control oscillation, feel firm. My only complaint is that the power cord is on the short side: it should be at least a foot longer and preferably two feet longer, but that is a small quibble. The plug is fused, which is a plus and a minus. If the fuse in the plug blows, you have to return the unit to an authorized service center, wherever that might be, for however long it would take. The bottom of the unit apparently detaches with four screws, so a do-it-yourself repair may be feasible. Personally, at this price, if it broke, I'd be inclined to just buy a eplacement, despite the one-year warranty.
The fan has three speeds, none of which will blow you away. All are, in fact, comfortable. Right now, shirtless and with room temperature edging into the mid-70s (at Midnight!Read more ›
-Tilting top for constant airflow in a specific direction
-3 speeds & great oscillation
-Optimal for small spaces on even the messiest workspace
-Only covers an area of roughly 3-4 feet, even on highest setting
-Can't be used from a long range
-very low power
I give this product three stars possibly because of the way I have it setup. It is setup to the left side of my laptop dock about 1 and a half feet away from me. It helps keep my laptop cool as well as myself. Again, if you need something powerful this is not your fan. Lastly, I ordered it with free shipping (5-8 business days) and received it in 2 business days, another testament to Amazon's great shipping!

Great little desk fan. Nice to be able to have 3 separate speeds and set it to pivot. Split between top is also nice to cover a wider area. Read morePublished 22 days ago by Tyler H.

These are amazing little fans. Our two year old has one in his room, and it really moves the air around and keeps him quite cool when he sleeps. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Brandy Clevenger
