Editorial Reviews

This concert video follows the final days of Dispatch...three regular guys whose music touched hundreds of thousands of fans without the help of a record label or PR machine. They sold out major venues, toured non-stop, and hit the Billboard Charts with 3 different albums.

There are two opportunities... in one way (when you are a fan of Dispatch) you will love this movie, because you get a lot of pictures of seeing chad, brad and pete making music at studio, but thats not all. you can see them playing at chads home, you see that this is "real" music. great! helmut schleppi tried to show the whole dispatch way (well in fact, he didn't did it well - for this you need the under the radar dvd), but he focused on chad urmston. chad didn't felt the energy of creating music in dispatch anymore at the end of 2002. the interviews with the three bandmembers are very lightning and gives you (as a dispatch fan) a good point of view for the question "why did the seperate?"

well for those who don't know dispatch, this movie isn't that much interesting, but it's good anyway. maybe 3 to 4 stars... because you can see the fairy-tale of 2oo4, boston... how 3 guys (and nobody knows theme) moved over 110.000 people to the hatch sheel free concert for a peaceful evening with over 4 hours music. when you like music, and like it independent, you will get gooseflesh...

well, but there is one letdown... there are no dvd extras. the dvd contains 3,8gb videomaterial - only the 80 minutes short movie with an english sound track - that's not fair for the fans...

i'm sorry that my english isn't that good - i'm a german

An inspiring story of the three most talented guys to ever come together. Their heart and soul was always music, not profit. I have bought and will buy every release (even though napster gave them to me for free) just to give back to the guys who helped me through my life with beautiful songs. I now understand why I love this band so much. Pete reflected my sentimental side, Chad reflected my politically frustrated side, and Brad reflected my spiritual side.

The film answered a lot of questions for fans who want nothing more than their legacy to continue. But as wonderful and real as this documentary was, it will make a true dispatch fan very sad. After all they did it on their own and thousand and thousands love them for it.

I purchased this DVD as soon as I received the e-mail saying it was available. I am watching it as I type the review, I have only seen 30 minutes and I know I will watch it again. The film shares unique insights into the relationships between Brad, Chad and Pete. The video is mixed between stuff shot during their entire history as well as especially for the film.

One note is that the film does not seem to be Dolby Digital or DTS, a bit disapointing but it is alright in 5ch stereo. I would still buy the film knowing this now.

I have followed Dispatch from the late 90`s. and this is defenetly the best band i have ever listen to.

Regretfully i did not have the opertunity to be there i Boston at the last Dispatch,(job, and all the way from Norway) but i am the the proud owner of all the Dispatch albums and some of the soloworks.

If you are considering to buy somthing from Dispatch, just buy, and you will be positivly suprised.

The Last Dispatch lets you get to know the band as they were, and are.

You will be hooked.

Excellent documentary. It was sad to see a great thing end. They were an amazing band. It was interesting to see the dynamics that happen behind the scenes when a strugging group finally hits it big. I was at the Boston show and they were able to really capture what it was like that crazy summer night when 10,000 people were expected and thousands showed up from all over the world.

This is a great movie for the Dispatch fan, though I can't imagine owning it without their DVD "The Last Dispatch". Both together fill in the story behind who they are, their break up and the final concert (well final until they reformed a few years later). At the time of release it was to be their swan song but now that they are back together will likely be viewed as just a snapshot in time.

It's worth the price for a fan of indie music or a fan of Dispatch. I love it.

Get this movie if you want to watch the story about way more than the money you can make in the music industry. Dispatch never sold out to the mass appeal and kept making music that their true fans would listen to.
