Nick/Nickolai is a hit man that has been released from the Bratva. While scoping his next mark, he sees Daisy. She is a vision of light and innocence that he hungers for but one whom he knows he will never be worthy of. Once their unplanned meeting takes place however, he cannot help but fall even more into all that is beautiful about his Daisy. While the heroine is naïve and unsure about so much in her new life, she is drawn to the stranger that is Nick.
What results is a charming, awkward courting between the hero and heroine. Both are inexperienced in dating much less relationships. They fumble with conversation and the simple steps of getting to know each other only adds to the charm. The movie night date was a wonderful disaster of which I’ve never read the likes of.
Nick is an absolute alpha hero and his taking care of Daisy was hilarious at times. Daisy was reluctant to accept anything from Nick and yet he helped her in such a manner that she often didn’t recognize it for what it was. When she did, she was strong enough to stand up to him and I was pleased these authors gave her that backbone. You’re gonna love the way he works around some of her needs.
About three-fourths of the way in, the story felt a little drawn out but only because Nick and Daisy are separated and their scenes together were where the true magic was. I loved the way Daniel coerced Nick into letting him somewhat, kind of, a little bit, become his friend. I think Regan and Daniel’s story is next and I will definitely be picking that one up!
If you love your alpha heroes damaged, socially awkward, prepared to do anything for the woman they consider their own, you’re going to love Nick.
If you love your heroines to be sweet, innocent, lost in the world, naïve and yet able to stand up to a killer, you’re going to love Daisy.
I actually hate that this story ended! I wanted more!
POV – both H/h
Epilogue – none but we get a look into their short future and I suspect we’ll be seeing more of them in the next books of the series
Cliffhanger – no except for Reagan and Daniel’s storyline
Safety Gang: **********************S P O I L E R S**********************
Daisy’s father slaps her but it was the only time he had ever done so and they are both shocked by it.
After meeting the heroine, the hero hires a prostitute for oral sex but is unable to go through with it. This really could’ve been left out and I was disappointed that these authors would include a scene that’s going to eliminate so many readers.
Daisy’s roommate Reagan is raped but it takes place off the page and is not described in the least little bit. The reader is simply given the assumption through the heroine that this took place.

I really wanted to love this book. The synopsis is amazing, the cover is drool worthy and overall the story flowed well but I had many issues with it. For starters my biggest issue was there were no ups/downs. It was like the tone of the book was the same through out. There was one tiny part about 80% that looked liked it was going up but that was cut off very shortly.
Loved that both characters led different lives but at the same time both were lost in the world. Neither of them new what it is to live a normal life, truly love someone or have someone love them back . I did feel they were the perfect match for each other. I get why they had an instant attraction to each other. I really wanted to feel something for them. Nikolai did have his swoon moments.
Enjoyed a few of their sexy moments together. But then there were some that were the worst I have ever read. I get she is a virgin and inexperienced but I really did not need a step by step course from him giving her directions on how to pleasure him. Huge turn off. I want some kind of sexiness in the bedroom department, does not have to be full blown erotic but at least make it somewhat sexy. Some of the sex term used was another huge turn off.
I did feel some things were glossed over. I needed a longer reaction from her when something huge was revealed. There is one scene that I was fine with him but her it was so out of character. But then again I needed a longer reaction from her. These were two major things that happened with her that I needed more time for her to process and go through the emotions.
The overall plot is amazing but the execution is not done well. I love where the plot is leading to and Daniel has caught my attention so I am not giving up on this series. I will give it another go with his novel.
I'll admit, parts are hard to read. Like literally HARD to read because of Nick's accent and broken english. I mean, it makes the story more realistic but I found myself having to reread parts because sentences didn't make sense. This isn't a criticism of the author's writing style. It's actually a compliment because it felt more real.
The storyline is good, albeit a little far fetched, but I liked it. Looking forward to the others
