I LOOOOOOOVVVVEEEDDDDDD this book!

Alyssa is that friend who will tell you like it is, building up your confidence. Yet under it all, she's struggling with her own issues and quirks. She's head strong...and honest...and flawed....and <i>real</i>.

And of course, it can't be a romance without her handsome love interest. Brandt (I love that name!) is just as flawed as Alyssa. But he's the protector. Loyal and probably his own worst critic.

But these two together?
SWOONSVILLE.
Bonus points for the best-friend's-sister trope!

Ms. Marti does a great job of taking us on a journey of two characters that many of us can relate to, who want so badly to be loved, but don't believe it's meant to be. Well written with great banter, this is a must-read! NOTE: While it is the 2nd novel in a series, it can be read as a stand alone.

Who doesn’t relate to Alyssa Morgan? A shy gangly girl who has a crush on the bad boy? Yum! Brandt Dempsey (so flippin’ hot) has a heartbreaking story that makes you tear up while you’re clutching your kindle. Nothing makes me read into the night more than a sexy bad boy with a dark childhood. He is a perfect combination of brooding and sensitive for our girl. And Alyssa is so snarky – her sense of humor cracked me up!
The author has really grown in her style adding loads more angst and toe-curling heat. The beginning made me laugh out loud and Kevin? The little boy? So darn sweet- and Kevin really gave Brandt a lot to think about regarding his own childhood. This story provides the reader with a glimpse at the lovers from Second Chance in Laguna - Nick and Sophie - and is fast paced and fun to read. I highly recommend this book!

I was lucky enough to stumble across the 1st book in this series months ago, Second Chance in Laguna, which caused me to yearn for the release of the 2nd book, At Last in Laguna. I live in Southern CA and the landscape of this book is what originally attracted me. I immediately fell in love with the characters in both of the books in the series and can't wait for the third release! I find not much time to read with 2 small children and a full-time career. These books were both read within 2 days' time! I couldn't put either of them down! The sensual and tempestuous relationship between Alyssa and Brandt was addicting and made it difficult for me to put the book down. I highly recommend At Last in Laguna to anyone looking for a fun and flirty read. I can't wait for the 3rd book in the series to be released!

MY REVIEW OF "AT LAST IN LAGUNA"by CLAIRE MARTI

"At Last in Laguna" by Claire Marti is the second novel in the Laguna series. It can be read alone. The genres of this novel are Fiction, Women's Fiction, and Romance. The timeline in this story is set mostly in the present, with reference to the past to clarify something about the characters.

The characters come from a dysfunctional upbringing and that results in many of the personality quirks. Some of the characters have secrets that impact their relations.
Alyssa Morgan's older over protective brother gets married, and is leaving on a two week honeymoon. Nick asks his best friend Brandt Dempsey to "babysit" Alyssa, and make sure that she is safe. Alyssa is twenty-nine years old and has had a crush and is madly in love with Brandt. Brandt is not immune to Alyssa's charms, but is aware of his loyalty and friendship with her brother.

I appreciate that the author brings some relevant topics to the story. Eating disorders, and abusive childhoods , alcohol and drugs are discussed. Alyssa, Nick and Brandt are building a charitable site where abusive women and their children can live. The women will be given the opportunity to get skills to work, and their children can live in a safe place and attend school.

The author also discusses the importance of family, friends, loyalty, love, and hope.

I found that this is a fast moving delightful sexy novel and I would recommend this for any readers that enjoy romantic novels. I received a copy of this ARC for my honest review. I am looking forward to reading more of Claire Marti's novels.

Alyssa’s comebacks and sarcastic wit had me laughing out loud, while Brandt’s tragic past and his determination to rise above it warmed my heart. I thoroughly enjoyed their journey together, and I read the final page with a big grin on my face!

I read the first one and loved how the author transitioned the characters into the 2nd book while making it a completely separate story. This book can be read alone even if you didn't read the first one. (Although, read the first one!! It was great too.) This one was also a little steamier which I appreciated. Can't wait to read more from Claire!
