And I'm also bothered about the price of this book. From .99 to $8.89 is a large jump. An author has the right to charge whatever he/she wants, of course, and obviously I paid it. However, If I'm paying that much, then my expectations are going to be much higher than normal and I guess it's part of why I feel really disappointed.
I guess I should move on to the reason we are here and this is for me to share my thoughts with you. So I hope that you will sit back and relax while I try to convey amazing experience I had while reading Night Owl and Last Night.
There are some book that grab you from the first few words and Night Owl is one of those books. The connection I felt to the characters happened within a matter of seconds. Their distinct realism was off the charts. Written with such vivid and colorful descriptive I had a mental image within seconds. Emotionally I connected with these characters on every level.
Unique and inventive are just two of the many words I can use to describe the storyline. Interesting, intriguing and ever developing I loved how the author worked the books in stages. A perfect blending of many different genre’s meshed within one very strong and solid story.
They say location is everything and the magnificent use of words the author uses in the various locations the story takes place are incredible. Close your eyes and you see everything with crystal clarity.
Filled with so many twists and turns, so many unexpected surprises and so sensual that it brought me to my knees I was lost. The author managed to take complete ownership of my mind. Once the author had me in his/her grip he/she managed to play with my thought process dangling bits and pieces, making me yearn for more. Tempting me into the brilliant workings of his/her mind and playing games with me along the way. I must admit I loved every second of this amazing adventure I was on.
When I suggested to my many friends that they read this series a few of the words I used to describe my own reading experience were amazing, incredible, startling, mysterious, sexy as all holy hell, intriguing, thought-provoking and brilliant. Trust me when I say my list of words to describe the brilliance of this book is endless.
I hope that you will take a chance on this author and this wonderfully written series. I know that I am just biding my time, waiting with intense anticipation for the third and final book in this series.
M. Pierce you have absolutely done it again!!! You ROCKED IT with Last Light….it was brilliant, sexy, witty, sinister, funny and thoroughly captivating and what an awesome succession to Night Owl!!! Matt steals my/your heart with his dirty talking, lust laden mind with such wanton, primal sex. ~fanning-self~ Undeniable is the bond and love that Matt and Hannah have for each other. I laughed, I cried and at times I was so totally infuriated with Matt and his need to lie and manipulate that I was ready to knock him off myself!
His obsessive need for anonymity hatched the unhinged plan to fake his own death and find the freedom he so wanted back. This lunatic guise now had him living a solitary life secluded in a cabin in the snow covered mountains of Colorado while Hannah carried on the charade of the grieving girlfriend. Would he and Hannah be able to pull this off or would there be outside forces that would cause the best laid plans to crumble?
Little did Matt realize the dynamics a separation would have on their relationship. Instead of absence making the heart grow fonder it seemed, for Matt at least, that the absence made him grow more desperate. Realization that Hannah’s weekend visits for sex-cations was not enough to quench his insatiable need for Hannah. For her love. For her body. For her to be with him. The need so strong that Matt began conniving a plan to get Hannah there. This lead to a whole series of missteps that will set in motions consequences further complicating their relationship.
Once again, M, the ending of Last Light blew my mind into the stratosphere!!! Leaving me with this one question, how did something so simple get them there? Waiting until March 24th I will be in a Matt/Hannah induced coma waiting for After Dark!!
I only hope that I can survive the wait.
