Was thinking this would be a nice starter bag for my 12 year old. After the hassle of filling with sand and rags, adding extra chains to drop it to the right height, the bag is tearing after one day and it's not even that heavy.

The quality of the canvas is good. The zippered opening at the top of the bag, is of poor quality and poorly placed. It's difficult to get more than your hand in the open slot, and the zipper broke with a mild pull. Ended up duct taping the slot closed. Did fill with two body pillows and a regular pillow at a cost of $35 (Target). 15 lbs of sand in the bottom and the bag is punch worthy. The pictures indicated to me the bag was larger/longer. It's short; long enough to either punch from arm heighth or kick from leg heigth. I rigged a pulley system in the garage to raise and lower the bag (cost about $8 from Lowe's) and this works OK. Overall, would assess a good bargain for the cost; just be prepared for difficulty in filling the bag. (I did take it out on the bag once filled and it holds up very well under stress.)

Buyers' Notes:
•Size is good for those only concerned with boxing.
•Seems to be made of good canvas and stitching.
•Dimensions (bag only from seam to seam): 11 inches (diameter), 31 inches (height).
•Chain Length (effective, when hung): 16½ - 17 inches
•Volume: ≈ 1.7 cubic inches

Potential Drawbacks:
•Canvas material may be a concern for those who wish to or must have the bag hung outdoors (e.g., mildew, mold).
•Keep in mind you may spend more to fill and outfit your bag, if doing-it-yourself is not already an advantage.

As normally recommended, I'd duct tape the bottom and the seams as a precautionary measure. First, the measurements of the bag are correct if the bag is laid flat. For me, finding out the actual dimensions of the bag was unappealing since I bought the bag with the said dimensions in mind. This leaves you with about 1.7 cubic inches of volume to pack the bag. I was unable to get the bag to above 30 lbs with clothing alone, so expect to fill it with other material if you want it heavier. I also decided to place carpet along the walls for padding and duct taped the bottom of carpet to help prevent the bottom from stretching or breaking apart. I did not particularly like the vinyl. Although there is nothing particularly wrong with it, I am sensitive to particular smells of synthetic material, which this one was one. The zipper is located across the diameter of the top, therefore stuffing and unstuffing the bag is a minor exercise of tedium. I have not had any problems with the zipper. I am uncertain of what the chains are rated for, but if you are extra safety conscious, I'd consider investing in additional hardware (I did not do this). Considering all of this, I would still buy this product knowing what I know now.

The price for this is good but mine slightly ripped from the bottom seams because of the weight. Understand that you must fill this bag up with rags, old clothes etc that you no longer need but if you do this the bag will be too light regardless so it will fly around like crazy chicken every time you give it a good solid punch so you must add some weight into it that won't damage your hands when you punch it obviously I added about 10 lbs of sand at the bottom and then filled the rest with old clothes .. The sand is 3 bucks for a 60 lb bag at the orange depot .. the part where it ripped I just wrapped in duck tape and it held .. I would recommend this bag to anyone who is a moderate trainer and will use this maybe 3 times a week it is worth the hassle of filling up but If you are a serious trainer just throw in an extra 50 bucks and get yourself a more "professional" one at your local sporting goods store

Value wise, you can't go wrong with this bag. It is well constructed and includes the chains which is nice. Quality wise it is every bit as good as a Century or Everlast. It does need to be filled. We used a mixture of foam from an old futon mattress and play sand from a local hardware store. I'd recommend adding about 15 lbs of sand to the bottom of the bag, then lining the inside perimeter with old clothes, foam basically whatever u have laying around. If you try to fill it with strictly sand, it will weigh 200 plus lbs. I ended up with a 60 lb bag that is nice and full. It may need material added as it settles over time, but the entire top is easily opened via a heavy duty zipper. I'm very happy with this bag (as is my 6 year old).

I bought a heavy bag from a sporting goods store.
I have little space so I mounted it on an outdoor wall with a bracket. Though I had it covered, the cheap woven straps rotted within a year and the bag fell. Thankfully, my dog wasnt underneath it....
I purchased this one, stuffed it with a few old small rugs, old socks and clothes, small bags of sand and rubber mulch.
Its perfect and it was much more cost effective than a vinyl pre-stuffed bag.
The chains are sturdy and an improvement from the inferior bag I previously owned.
Though the shipping service (on trac) totally sucked - they claimed my business address did not exist and when I offered to go outside and flag the driver down, they hung up on me - I recommend this product.
