From the Back Cover

Based on true adventure tales in the lives of two brothers, this story will take the reader back to the Battle of Franklin in the CivilWar. Demoralized, wounded and imprisoned, the brothers make their way back toTexas only to find life has dramatically changed. Post-war Carpetbaggers,Yankee martial law and the Ku Klux Klan make their lives unbearable.
Asexperienced horsemen, the brothers depend on this knowledge to get involved inthe cattle business and join cattle drives from Texas to Kansas. Ultimately, their love of family, bonding with former slaves and trust in God'sfaithfulness, inspires their perilous trek across the vastness of Texas and theLlano Estacado to New Mexico Territory.

His Mother's family came to New Mexico from MontagueCounty, Texas after the Civil War and arrived in Lea County, New Mexico in the1880's.
