A great collection that will amaze the listener for the crystalline quality of its recordings. Leadbelly is undoubtedly one of the greatest bluesmen to ever appear on the face of earth and here it shows. This collection's renditions of classics like "John Henry", "Bottle Up And Go", "Leaving Blues" and 25 more are a must-have for anyone who claims to be a real blues fan.

Some of Leadbelly's essential discography consist of these titles - Midnight Special, King Of The Twelve-String, the Smithsonian legacy series, and the Last Sessions prove to be the most interesting and should be the most sought after...although this set is issued and released by Smithsonian folkways with ninety six tracks on four disc, this imported Italian version is no slouch, only shortened by eight tracks, eighty eight total on three volumes or the complete box set available, the audio is outstanding, Leadbelly's vocals and twelve-string are vital and clear as the bluesmaster tells stories and origins to some of the songs, like the day he met the great Gene Autry, Huddie also talks about the legendary Blind Lemon Jefferson... the Last Sessions are not just imperative, these sessions are the best Leadbelly recorded works for audio... the import version contains a nice solid cardboard cover, like a hardback book holding the disc securely inside the plastic holder, vol. 1 includes a small booklet with few liner notes.
