It tells the touching story of broken souls in search of love. Her characters Annie and Ethan, have flaws, which makes this story more realistic! Annie, a nurse, always loved Ethan, since they were teenagers, but their relationship became too intense for her, so she decided to let him live his own dream of becoming a famous hockey player. They both came from broken families and had suffered so much. But destiny, will bring them together, when Ethan's brother, Manny, is injured and brought to the hospital where Annie is working. When they meet again, old feelings come back, which becomes a love/hate relationship. Ethan, loves her so much, that he will do anything to win her heart and get her back, but he is an impulsive emotional guy. After a three years separation, lots of emotions overwhelm them! Also, their family relationship is very complicated. Do they still share the same feeling for each others? Will she give him a second chance? Will his brother Manny, intervene to get those two stubborn lovers, back together? Just, go and grab this one when it comes out, you won't be disappointed!
Ms. Hubbard wrote a well written, fast-paced, sexy and romantic story of second chance. You don’t need to be hockey fan, to love “The Last Shot”, just a romantic soul!
I know many readers get upset with books that are a series. But, this book should've been a series. I would've loved to have read about when they first met and how their relationship transitioned from a friendship to love. Or Annie struggling to let Ethan go. And Ethan struggling to accept it.
In closing, I must mention Manny. Manny has to have a book written about him. I really loved his character. Please read. Great read.
Annie and Ethan were high school sweethearts. Annie was raised by her Nana while Ethan and his brother Manny were raised by an alcoholic father. Neither have had an easy life while growing up. Annie has commitment issues, Ethan has anger issues. Ethan’s dreams come true when he has the chance to play hockey for the NHL in America. Annie does not want to stand in the way of Ethan’s dreams, so she breaks up with him. Fast forward three years later when Manny becomes a patient at the hospital where Annie works. This will bring Ethan back into Annie’s life. Can their past relationship pull them together again? Can Annie trust Ethan with her heart? Can Ethan trust Annie not to break his again?
The idea for this book was a good one. Old flames rekindling the love they once shared. Both of them overcoming some adversity as they learn to love each other again. Throw in some hockey, a lovable “baby” brother, a bossy sports agent and a doctor who wants the heroine and it should set the theme for an entertaining read right? Well, not so much for me. I try very hard to find the good in a book/story/author and overlook the bad. I do not like to give negative reviews because I know each book is important to the person who put it to paper. Each book is a piece of the writer, a story they are sharing with us, the reader. However, I had a very hard time staying focused on this book. It took twice as long to read it than most books I read. I kept having issues with continuity, examples: I was led to believe Annie broke up with Ethan so he could go play hockey. I learned Annie was convinced she could not trust Ethan anymore.Read more ›
This book was awful. The heroine was super negative and the chemistry just wasn't there. I found myself skimming the last few chapters because I didn't care much about the characters. I rarely if ever leave reviews but I felt compelled to so that I can spare a fellow reader from purchasing this horrible book.

I liked the plot and story line. I could do with less of the F word. Why do authors think that is necessary to use that language to convey an emotion? Read morePublished 2 months ago by Amazon Customer

The description was better than the actual book. Very boring and predictable characters. Actually very predictable book overall. It read more like a first or second draft.Published 5 months ago by Michelle

It's cute but I wouldn't purchase it again. I only gave it four stars because no one ever sees the two star ratings and I want someone to get the heads up they deserve!Published 6 months ago by Courtney
