This is a story of two very opposite people that are similar in that they are both flawed. Quinn is a small town girl who flees to the big city to live with her cousin in the world of TV and movie stars. She is running from her past that is filled with guilt, loss, sadness, gossip, nightmares and tragedy. Chase is a hunky movie star who is use to having any girl he wants on any given night but he never dates. The pages of this book are what happens when their two worlds collide and take them in an unexpected direction.
There are a few lust filled pages for fans that like their stories a little on the steamy side but it is not over done. I applaud Gaitin for this as I find that sometimes in this genre there is so much sex that it over powers the story. There was just the right amount of heat that it did not take away from the plot and the bigger picture.
The story flowed nicely and it was a quick and easy read. I enjoyed getting to know all of the characters as well as a look at the Hollywood celebrity scene. It appears that the next book will be centred around Quinn's cousin Ginger. She is a fairly big part of this story and I have to say that I wasn't exactly pleased with the direction she was going. Having said that, I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens in her life.Read more ›
I would have to say when I first started listening to it I thought what have I gotten myself into. By the end of the first page I was hooked. By the ending I thought OMG it is going to be a cliffhanger. I really didn’t think in the short time left in the book the author could pull off but she did much to my surprise and it was a wonderful ending. My hats off to Ms. Gaitan for writing a wonderful plot where the words flowed smoothly, putting humor just where it needs to be and giving a book well worth listening to. I found this to be very believable and could be out of today’s headlines.
Quinn is trying to outrun her past and it is a big one with a lot of people not happy with her. You won’t find out the full effect until later on. When I found out the whole story my heart broke for her, she is strong or once was but now is weak. It is hard when everything you hold dear is taken from you and you feel you are to blame, you give up, you don’t know where to turn or who to trust.Read more ›
First we meet Quinn, a girl on the run from her past, she arrives in LA to stay with her cousin and start fresh. Her first week there, Quinn and her cousin Ginger go to a Hollywood party and Quinn meets Chase. Chase is an up and coming actor who is everything Quinn doesn't need in her life right now. But try as she might, Quinn can't deny her attraction and ha what is supposed to be a one night stand with Chase. Quinn quickly learns that all decisions have consequences and she will have to deal with hers.
Chase knows the instant he meets Quinn that she is different than all the other women he comes into contact with and he will fight to have her. After an amazing night, Quinn refuses to return his calls and after weeks of trying, Chase is just about to give up when she drops a bomb on him that will change everything.
This book was just ok for me, not great and here's why. The characters have a lot that they are going thorough and at times it feels really drawn out for the sake of drama...I love you, I hate you, I love you, I can't do this...over and over again. I am all for drama and angst but this was just a little much at times. Parts of it felt very much like a combination of plots from a lot of other stories that I have read. Even though I get that Quinn has a lot she is dealing with, she is just annoying at times and then she has a dream and all is ok? It was a little hard to believe.
I did like Chase as a character and the lengths he is willing to go to convince Quinn that he has changed his ways and wants to be with her.
POV: switches between Quinn and Chase
Quick hook or slow starter? 3.5 (I was hooked from the beginning but the story dragged at times)
Character development: 3.Read more ›
