I have found my new “Insta-Buy” author.
The best thing about reading a book that you love is realizing the author has more books that I can read instantly. No need to wait a year for the next one, or wondering when I can read more. Diana Gardin has a handful of books I can jump into right away.
As for this book… I finished it in one sitting. That’s right! One-stinkin’-sitting. It's that good. The writing is smooth, the pace keeps the pages flying, and the love story is expertly crafted.
The chemistry between Dare (the badass ex-Army Ranger) and Berkley (the Admiral’s daughter) jumps off the page. Both characters are deep, flawed, and perfectly imperfect. Anything I say will not do justice to the story. Just get it. You will not regret it.
LAST TRUE HERO by Diana Gardin should be on your “must read” list!
Berkeley Holtz is the daughter of an Admiral with a list of family expectations that are a mile long. And right at the top of that list is her parents' wish for her to be with their long-time friends' son, Graham. Berkeley may have considered following along with the plan, but after meeting Dare, there's no going back for her.
The writing in this book is extremely solid and flows wonderfully. I breezed through it and the steady pace kept me turning the pages. I'll be honest, I was quite a sucker for Graham and I am so, so glad he's getting own book. Cannot wait to get my hands on that one.
Dare Connors days as a Army Ranger are over, and now he forced to figure out what the next step in life for him will be. His haunting combat memories have him in desperate need of a escape from reality, so he welcomes the opportunity to stay at his friends beach side home for a while. He hopes the relaxing environment will give him the reprieve he needs, and quiet all the menacing monsters in his mind. Finding love isn't really on his radar right now, but the minute he sets eyes on a beautiful waitress with golden curls, he begins to think maybe it should be. She has an effect on him that he can't deny, and when he approaches her, he discovers that getting to know her maybe prove to be quite challenging, but it's a mission he is more than capable of winning...
As soon as I read the description for this title I knew it was going to be a really good read, and I have to say that my instincts were spot on, this is definitely one of the BEST NetGalley finds I have had in a long while! I think it is safe to say that Ms.Read more ›
I loved the story - it drew me into the world of Dare (a badass ex-army Ranger) and Berkeley (the daughter of a military admiral) with all the highs and lows of a budding relationship. Dare has issues but when it comes to Berkeley he is able to forget them all. He is so protective of her and takes the relationship as slow as she wants. First just being friends as Berkeley doesn't want to get too involved without both of them being totally honest about their past. The chemistry between the two of them is off the pages and in your heart – you feel a vested interest in the outcome. I just can't say enough about this book it was so good – you need to pick up your own copy and get started on a romance that will grip your heart and leave you in love with the characters.
Diana Gardin's writing style flows so smoothly that this book was a joy to read and left me wanting more of the story, I didn't want the book to end. But I look forward to reading more of Ms. Gardin's writings.
