Where to Use: Natural stone such as limestone, slate, travertine, sandstone, flagstone, tumbled stone, flamed stone & textured stone. Masonry & concrete. Directions: Read entire label before using. Use only as directed. 1. Mask off any surfaces not intended to be treated. 2. Liberally apply an even coat using a paint pad, roller, brush, or pump-up garden sprayer. Do not use a power sprayer, towel, or sponge for application. Do not thin before using. 3. Allow sealer to penetrate surface for 15–20 minutes. Denser material may require more time to penetrate. DO NOT ALLOW EXCESS SEALER TO DRY ON SURFACE. Failure to remove excess sealer from surface may result in residue that may need to be mechanically removed. 4. Thoroughly wipe surface with multiple dry cloths to remove all excess sealer. 5. A second coat may be needed for more absorbent surfaces. If darker appearance is required, sealer should be applied one hour after initial application, as directed in steps 2–4. 6. Full cure is achieved after 24–72 hours. Avoid foot traffic for 6–8 hours after application. If foot traffic must resume sooner, cover the floor with red rosin paper to protect it until full cure has been achieved. Red rosin paper is not needed to apply second coat. 7. Clean equipment with mineral spirits. Rags and equipment that are wet with product may be flammable. METHOD OF APPLICATION: For small jobs, use a paint pad, roller, or brush. For larger jobs, use a pump-up garden sprayer available at your local garden center, hardware store, or home improvement center. Do not use a power sprayer. Power sprayers create a significant amount of overspray, resulting in wasted product and the need for additional clean-up. A pump-up garden sprayer will reduce the potential for over-exposure to vapors and produce better results. Ensure that the area is well-ventilated during application and until the surface is dry to the touch. Coverage: Quart: 40-115 sq. ft.

Enter, DuPont's Stone Enhancer Pro! It brought out the natural color of my stone fireplace with one application (the colors really popped, just like they did when I had washed them and they were wet). It does tend to darken the stones somewhat, which is something to be aware of if the stone you're going to treat is already dark. It also does not give the stones a shine or "wet look" but this was a bonus for me because I didn't want them to have any gloss.
The stone enhancer itself reminded me quite a bit of mineral spirits, and it is very watery. I found that a very small amount goes a long way and only used 1/2 of the quart bottle to do my entire fireplace. When applying I used a small 1 inch paint brush and a small plastic container with about 1/4 inch of enhancer at a time. While applying, I had the area well ventilated and wore a respirator, but really found that the smell was not very strong (i am just cautious, so decided to use the respirator). After letting the enhancer penetrate the stone for 10-15 minutes I used a rag to wipe off any excess, but found that if you apply it very carefully and in small amounts, wiping wasn't a huge chore. Even though I did my best to keep the solution only on the stones it did drip and run a bit onto the mortar joints but i wiped them quickly and it didn't noticeably darken the joints.

If you want a good approximation of the look delivered by the StoneTech Enhancer Pro solvent based formula just take a wet sponge and wipe down your stone. This works best on Marbles but just as the water brings out the hidden richness of the stone this StoneTech Enhancer Pro solvent based solution will do likewise. The reason one chooses stone is because each peice has a unique character. The solvent based StoneTech Enhancer Pro brings out the character in the stone making an ordinary stone backsplash into something really exciting and pleasing to the eye.
Just be careful to read the instructions and alerts to insure you use as directed. I take one star off because; the print on the packaging is so tiny. Do they really expect people to read print that small.
I didn't like how chalkey it was, so I emailed Laticrete on what products to use for the chalkey look, and also protection against grease,
and spills. Their response was immediate, and Thanks to Jennifer Aleman she suggested first the enhancer followed by the Inpregnator.
It's expensive to do, but well worth peace of mind.
