About the Author
Laura Lea Goldberg is a certified Holistic Chef, consultant, and founder/writer/photographer of the popular food website LLBalanced. After graduating from the University of Virginia, she discovered her passion for healthful cooking and nutrition while living a fast-paced corporate life in New York. She handed it all over to enroll at the Natural Gourmet Institute and headed back to her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, to launch LLBalanced where she provides readers with affordable, comforting, and make-ahead family-friendly meals that are packed with nutrients and flavor. Her dishes are often remakes of Southern-influenced comfort food, with the intention that we can have the best of both worlds. She currently consults with individuals, corporations, and restaurants on all aspects of healthy eating and nutrition while contributing articles and recipes for, among others, Nashville Lifestyles, Southern Living, Shape, and Greatist.com. Laura Lea also has a regular local cooking segment on WSMV Channel 4, where she demonstrates how to make some of her most popular dishes.
Alice Randall is the New York Times bestselling author of the novels, The Wind Done Gone, Pushkin and the Queen of Spades, Rebel Yell, and Ada's Rules and the only person to ever study with Julia Child for credit at Harvard. An acknowledged authority on African-American cookbooks, Randall teaches the course "Soul Food, in Text, as Text" at Vanderbilt University. She also writes country music, including Trisha Yearwood's now classic "XXX's and OOO's (An American Girl)." Randall has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a Health Champion and is Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution Nashville Ambassador.

There are some gems in this cookbook!!! I made the holy fudge brownies for Father's Day and they were a hit! Everyone wanted to take leftovers back home so that they can tell others "These are the perfect consistency and you can't even taste the black beans!" The gooey butter cake is next on the list because the recipe looks amazing (we are from St. Louis, so we have high hopes).
This is the first time a cookbook has grabbed the attention of my dad and my boyfriend. The pictures and stories are so great. And the recipes are the easiest to follow! Especially love the tips and tricks along the way. This cookbook is great for anyone looking for a normal, sustainable journey to healthy cooking - no matter what your experience in the kitchen is.
The recipes are fabulous! Easy to follow, easy to make, and delicious! Every recipe has a picture which is incredibly helpful when selecting, making, garnishing, and serving the amazing food.
I like the cookbook so much I bought 16 since the "Laura Lea Balanced Cookbook" is now my go-to hostess gift.
Thank you, Laura Lea Goldberg, for a superb cookbook and experience.
Laura Lea's approach to food is truly balanced, something that can be hard to find in today's culture. I appreciate that she focuses on whole food ingredients and doesn't get bogged down by one strict diet or eschew whole food groups entirely. She has inspired me to return to my kitchen and provide my family with nourishing food. This cookbook has been a gift to my family and I think it will be for yours too.
There are so many delicious things to make in this cookbook and you will recognize all of the ingredients. I can't wait for the next cookbook! Do yourself a favor and order this book already!
