Go for the Gusto?

We order this coffee every month, and enjoy it for the most part. Coffee flavor is affected by air; purchasing it in a small brick such as this one is certainly a benefit to the picky coffee drinker. We do a pour over for ourselves, but our friends did a brewed /drip style with it and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. The only complaint we have is the flavor and quality of the coffee is inconsistent between bags - something we noticed on most Lavazza products. For example, we recently ordered three bricks, and two arrived intact and airless, but the third the seal must have been broken, because it was not a brick at all and it had air in it, resulting in an acrid and stale tasting coffee. When we ordered other Lavazza products, such as Super Crema,the Grans, Perfecto, or others, the first couple of bags were fresh and wonderful, but the third and fourth were terrible, stale and very acidic or lacking flavor - we found this in both the beans and coffee we have tried. In fact, the last bag was so bad we still cannot drink it. We do not use sugar in our coffee, just a little cream or whole milk, so the taste is more pronounced to us. This being said, we still order the Gusto each month, and it is small enough that if the bag is bad, we mix it with something else not to waste it. We ordered the Crema beans (lacked flavor) the Gusto and Illy coffee (very acidic) and compared them. The less expensive Gusto surpassed them for a daily coffee. Hope this helps someone.

Lavazza Crema e gusto is our favorite blend for espresso, but there was an issue with the batch we received. Upon opening it had a rancid smell, and the shots of espresso report tasted extremely bitter and “off” compared to usual. I only had one sip, but it was enough to make my stomach turn. Thinking it was a fluke, we opened the next bag but it smelled exactly the same - rancid. Same with the third bag.

The vacuum seals on all bags were intact, so the issue could have been improper storage/temperature control, or problem during roasting prior to packaging.

Either way, we will not be purchasing coffee on Amazon anymore. We will reach out to our local coffee shops to inquire about curbside pick up.

I keep reordering this coffee because there is no bitter aftertaste and it reminds me of the coffee my Italian grandmother used to make years ago. My husband mentioned how good it was the first time I made some for him. I add an extra scoop for the pot and we love the taste. I decided to try the Intense kind, but it has a bitter aftertaste, so will never order that again.

J'adore! In Europe I drink Illy, but in the USA I think it is really too expensive so I buy this one, the Lavazza Crema e Gusto (cream and taste): everything is said: I obtain a fantastic coffee in my espresso machine every time despite it is normally conceived to be used with a moka. Faux pas? No, this coffee is so tasty, aromatic, and strong that it fits. The Lavazza Crema e Gusto is certainly stronger than the coffees you can find around, but it is so well balanced with a blend of Arabica and Robusta from Brazil and Asia that it can accompany any moments of the day, any desserts, any biscuits, and all kind of chocolates. This coffee is 250 gr (x 3) of pleasure and happiness! Highly recommended!

We stayed at a villa in Tuscany this past June. Every day we went in to the little town of Montepulciano for groceries. On the first day we needed coffee and we bought this brand. Had it every morning of our stay in Tuscany. It’s absolutely the richest most flavorful coffee I’ve ever had. When I found it on Amazon, I had to buy it. It come in a package of 3 bricks for about $16. Worth every penny. I have 3 cups of coffee every morning, but my first cup with my breakfast is the Lavazza Crema e Gusto ground coffee. If you are a coffee lover, you will not be disappointed.

Great coffee, but. . .

I have used this brand of coffee for years as I make a cappuccino every morning. It is supposed to come in a hard "brick" which denotes freshness. Of the three packages of coffee, only one was a brick which means no seal was broken on that particular package. I immediately used one of the "soft" packages and did find the coffee to be of good taste but do not feel comfortable when seals have broken! They were packaged in a trio so don't know when and how this occurred. Going forward, I may order from a different vendor.

One of the three packs had lost vacuum and acquired a bad rotten smell so had to be discarded.
The other two are ok. Coffee looks like medium roast and fine grind.
Not impressed with freshly opened pack smell nor the coffee flavor, but it's strong and drinkable. Made in moka pot.
Mfg date for all was 3/2019, expiration 2/2021 so the packs were one year old already.
