Not The Real Deal

Lavazza has always been my favorite espresso. I prefer it over Illy over Kimbo, just about all of them. Hence, I was excited to find it here for a reasonable price for 3 250g packs. To my disappointment, this does not taste like the Lavazza i know when I lived in Italy nor the packs my family or I bring when we come back from trips. I feel like this is a different roast made just for the US. The beans this espresso are made from are a mix of arabica and robusta beans. I'm not sure, but I believe the Italian version is 100% arabica. My biggest problem though is the taste. Upon opening the bag there was no richness in the color of the grind nor the aroma that came from the bag. The same is true of the taste with absolutely no richness whatsoever ar smooth espresso flavor whatsoever. I use the same stovetop moka I always do so its not the fault of my coffee maker. Sorry to say, I won't repurchase here. I will use it it up to make American coffee. BUT THIS AIN"T NO REAL LAVAZZA! I'm a full blooded Italian whose been drinking espresso since I was 7 and I can tell you this does NOT taste like espresso. My Italian momma agrees and I didn't even mention anything to her before she tasted it!!

Went back to the Illy cans which is 3 x more expensive but obviously for a reason. You don't have this quality difference in Europe and Italy, clearly an export products for US customer who only buy the cheapest they can get. Sad, love Lavazza in Italy.

This is one of Italy's best coffees and I've tried them all. It is good in automatics, French press and especially my favorite boiled coffee. It forms up thick and nicely and smells great. You don't need to wait for it to settle to enjoy the fine settled taste of it, you can drink it right away. If you are searching for another kind of coffee to go along with your regular brand, or to impress your friends and family, I recommend this first. It goes with breakfast, lunches, dinners or any kind of cakes and pastries.
Hence: they also make espresso coffee under this brand and I am only recommending the ground coffee. I know nothing about expressos.

Bought this and a Bialetti moka coffee maker after returning from a trip to Italy. Italians consider this espresso and consider this brand THE BEST. They all have the Bialetti in their homes. We were using another Italian brand in our villa but when we ran out we bought this brand. Sooooo smooth! Quite noticeable from the other brand. This is the perfect brand and the perfect grind for this kind of coffee maker. I make this coffee every day now.

Ever since traveling to Italy, I've decided to only buy Italian when I can. Usually this means ordering LaVazza off Amazon or getting it on sale at my local grocery store. This costs about 2x as much as Folgers, but still works out to like 20cents per cup. However, it is so dang delicious, and unlike other types of LaVazza, the flavor isn't super adventurous, and I can have several cups in a row of this kind.

I was curious to try this one and now it will be my Go To Brand even though it's more expensive. Sigh...
It's a little milder then the Crema e Gusto and therefore better for me.

I love lavazza coffee and there's nothing wrong with the flavor. However, we bought it to use with our french press as it shows on the label that it can be used for it. But the grind is too fine and is not really suitable for a french press.
