Bear's history hurt to read. We find out a little bit about his mother, what life was like growing up as a biker and having the meanest SOB for a father. The hardest part was seeing through his eyes the torture he suffered at the hands of his enemy. No wonder he had nightmares and escaped reality with booze, drugs and babes. Each revelation gave me a bit more of an understanding of how he came to be the man he is. I wanted him to find peace, but by the end of Lawless, it's still out of reach.
I loved meeting Cynthia...not Cindy, only her mum calls her that. She prefers Thia, because that's what her daddy likes. She's a little spitfire ten year old who works part time at the service station. One day, things go a little pear shaped and there's a gun pointed in her face. Her hero is a beautiful biker named Bear. He fixes the problem and gives her a ring to keep (payment not to tell the cops) and tells her to come see him if she's ever in trouble. The little girl falls in love with the biker and remembers his offer.
Thia's life falls apart seven years later and she ends up needing Bear after all. Unfortunately, Bear is not in a good headspace and is definitely not ready to be anyone's Knight in Jeans and Biker Boots. The ring was supposed to be a joke, but someone forgot to tell the little girl. Bear decides to fix her problems quickly and get back to his self-destruction plans.
Things get out of hand and Bear and Thia's life is in danger. The more dangerous the situation, the more protective Bear becomes. There's a fairly big age difference between them which makes Bear hesitant to take things to a sexual relationship. Eventually they can't help themselves and you can see their feelings deepen.
T. M. Frazier has a remarkable talent for taking me out of my comfort zone (willingly) and making me enjoy (maybe not the right word) subjects I would normally avoid. This series is awesome and I can't wait for the next installment.
Thia first met Bear when she was 10 years old. He left an impact on her so a few years later when she found herself in trouble she ran to Beach Bastards MC looking for him. But what she found was not at all what she was looking for. Luckily, a bad situation did not turn even worse and she was able to get to King. When she is reunited with Bear, it's not the reunion that she was expecting or one that Bear had planned for. However, a promise is a promise so Bear agrees to help Thia but her situation quickly becomes more complicated than first thought. Add in the fact that now the MC knows about her and her connection to Bear, and she is a wanted woman.
I know that Bear was dealing with a lot of his own personal demons but he was a bastard to Thia in the beginning. And when he finally started to wake up, he still made a few stupid mistakes, but he did finally get his head out of his ass. Thia may have seemed like a naive girl in the beginning but she is far from stupid and is very strong-willed.
Like with all of the other books in this series, you will be on the edge of your seat waiting to read what is going to happen next. I didn’t see the ending coming and the cliffhanger was just WOW.
In LAWLESS we really get into Bear’s story. The sexy, tattooed, biker alpha with blonde hair and blue eyes, which captivated Thia since she was 10 years old. Thia was only 10 when his MC at the time, the Beach Bastards MC, almost robbed the store Thia was working at helping her Aunt out. Bear stopped the robbery and gave Thia a diamond skull ring and a promise. Thia held on to that promise and the skull diamond ring for seven years and now it was time to cash in Bear’s promise. To Bear, it was just a broken promise that he made to a little pink-haired girl and thought nothing of it until she returned back into his life, beaten and bloody at King’s residence, sent as a message from the Beach Bastards MC. Bear was in between MC’s but as soon as he saw Thia he knew he had to keep his promise no matter the cost. Even if it cost him his life.
Bear is in a tough spot when they meet again, he feels lost and not sure where his place in the world should be. He was born MC and is trying to deal with not feeling like he belongs anywhere, being lawless. He already lost a woman he thought was supposed to be his, but is still happy for Doe and King and realizes the feelings he thought he had aren’t anything like what he starts feeling for Thia almost immediately. When he returns, he realized how much he has missed since he’s been gone. Bear has been busy going through booze, drugs and women. Where Thia, had to grow up fast, work several jobs to support her family, and didn’t get a normal teenage life. She ends up losing everything and everyone in her life, but a promise. She is extremely determined, strong-willed, “jumping bean” that has eyes only for Bear. Even though Bear is lost, Thia helps to bring him to the present and realize there is more to life, and it’s worth fighting for.
After reading KING and TRYANT, I didn’t think there could be so many twists and turns but LAWLESS had me from page one and I didn’t put it down until I finished it that day. I was screaming at the end due to the intensity of Bear and Thia’s story. You will not guess the end!
LAWLESS is told in alternative POV’s, includes some very hot, hot scenes between Bear and Thia. I cannot wait to read SOULLESS, the excerpt in SOULLESS will definitely keep you on your toes until February 23, 2016!
