Highlights include the detailed descriptions of the town and its characters, plus the personal struggles between the white marshal who is an ex- confederate army soldier, and his black ex-slave deputy is played out throughout the story with an enjoyable - if not predictable - conclusion.
I recommend this book and look forward to reading the authors other works.
Broomall has done a masterful job.. Three cheers... The one minor fault is his recollection of the price of things... Where do you think the term "two bit whore" originated? A dollar in 1880 would be ten in 1930, perhaps one hundred in 1980, who knows what today?
I shall read another of his books, and hope for a better story.
