The video quality is grainy and the sound not the best, but chances are this is how they were when they were watched by you or your loved one 50 years ago too! They are what they are .... and they do serve their purpose.
Folks considering this DVD need to be made aware of (or reminded) that the early years of Welk were in the early years of television and everything was in black and white and recordings were kinescope recordings--not videotape. In other words, networks had to make film movies of the live show on a TV screen to capture the live broadcast. We've become accustomed in our modern era to recordings of shows that look like the original live broadcast. This DVD doesn't. Even so, the company has tried to enhance and restore the kinescope as much as possible. If you appreciate the Lawrence Welk show and all its performers, you'll will soon forget that the show is in black and white and simply enjoy the music and performances of a bygone era.
