Layers Trilogy Box Set by Lacy Silks is comprised of the following four books:
Dazzed By Silver is the prequel to the Layers series. This book is about characters Sam (Samantha) and Gabe (Gabriel). It also introduces Kendra. The story was interesting and I liked both Gabe and Sam, but the never-ending explicit sex (including F/F/M) eclipsed the suspense of the story to the point of being a three stars read. I did like the alternating POV between Sam and Gabe.
Layers Deep is the first full novel of the series, but the ending is incomplete without reading book two, Layers Peeled. Both books are about Tristan and Allie told from Allie's POV. Both have suspense, action and (again) lots of explicit sex, but only of the F/M variety. I did like the overall story found in these two books and for me the two combined were four stars.
Layers Off is the final story that features Julian and Kendra. It is told from Kendra's POV. Hers is a very emotional story that changed my mind about her. I was not her biggest fan in the prequel. However by the end of this book I really liked her. Julian was also more engaging in this book than in any of the previous ones. The sexual encounters were more balanced with the intense mystery (which has many twists) and the suspense.
Overall this was a four star read. I would suggest to the author to have a proof reader go through this series and correct the errors, which were sprinkled through out all four books. Otherwise, all of the books were fast paced with well developed characters.
Sex trafficking, being buried alive and the dark side of life - 5 stars
This box set includes Dazzled by Silver, Layers Deep, Layers Peeled and Layers Off. I absolutely LOVED this boxed set and the strength of the men and women portrayed. The first book introduced us to Gabe and Sam, as well as Kendra. Kendra and Sam have been friends for a long time and now that Sam is trying to get over a bad relationship, she is ready to find a good man to hook up with. Gabe is also working behind the scenes with his cousins (the Cross boys) and their investigation firm.
In Layers Deep, we get to learn more about Allie (who we met in the first book when she helped Gabe and Sam in the park) and Tristian is front and center for this book. Tristian needs Allie to help him save Kendra and she needs him for her own revenge plans resulting from her childhood. The sexual chemistry between them is off the charts. In Layers Peeled, we continue on with the second part of Allie and Tristian's story. Just when Allie thinks that her life has settled down and she is in the clear, the past comes back to repeat itself in the worst way possible.
In Layers Off, we round back to Kendra and Julian's story and bring everything back together. We get to go back to Kendra's youth, when she was actually known as Katherine before her parents were killed. There were soooo many twists and turns in this book, that it kept me on the edge of my seat for the majority of the book. It was nice to see how things were picked up from the previous book and ends tied up. Well worth the time and money.

I got Dazzled by Silver as a free read, which is the prequel in this trilogy and was hooked. I had to buy the entire thing. I loved the Cross family so much. The things they went through might have torn any family apart but they held strong and took care of each other. I recommend this series for everyone, but you can't mind a bit of sexiness if you read it.
This was my first introduction to Lacey Silks writing, and I have to say I was hooked. I have since bought her off-spring to this story The Crossed Series and will be looking for other books by this author. I love her way of telling a story.
I loved most of the stories. The first three are wonderfully written and I was all in from the beginning. The last story, Julian's story, I hated. I'm not understanding how he and Kendra end up together. She is the one character even knowing her past that I did not like. I'm not minimizing drug addiction I just didn't like her. He deserved to have a better love interest. If the last book wasn't part of the set it would have been 5 stars for me. Overall a good set by a great author.
I loved this entire series. I have to say the last book was my favorite. The characters hit close to home and felt like I was reading about parts of my own life. They all got their happy endings just like I have.
If your looking for stories that will peak your interest, keep you hot, and guessing about what could possibly happen next these are for you! The heartache, the love and the friendships built will keep you tied to these books until the very end. I can't wait to read the next set of books!
I loved the trilogy, it was different from my normal romance novels i read and it had me wondering what was going to happen next and it was like being able to solve your own mystery story...it kept me up many of nights not wanting to stop reading it, you are one of my favorite Authors, loved loved it...keep the good works coming...
Fast paced, deeply interwoven stories about the Cross Brothers investigation team. Each heroine was in trouble but rescued by the Cross brothers and their cousin Gabe. Each story deals sex trafficking and general sexual assault and stopping at least part of a huge network that is in the USA and abroad. Very passionate read!
I loved this series. Loved the Cross family, and the people who loved and worked with them. The different stories were all tied together and were each, in their own right, very interesting. I definitely recommend this series. Bernice F.
