A to Z Minerals by Handy Pantry - A Complete Organic Fertilizer A Source of Minerals & Trace Elements Azomite is the name of a special rock in Utah. Early this century geological prospector Rollin Anderson found deposits of montmorillonite clay in a valley south of Salt Lake City. U.S. Bureau of Mines analysis showed the clay is similar to Chilean/Peruvian caliche rocks from which much of the world's nitrate was mined. Anderson ground montmorillonite as fine as possible, then put it in his garden. Results were amazing and nearly immediate. Minerals in Azomite are necessary to optimal metabolism in living things. Ground to dust, minerals are small enough to pass through cell walls of organisms.

Amazon rarely gets beaten in price - this time they got hammered by other sites. I'd recommend buying the first two pound package from Amazon and see the results. If it's as good as the reviewers (and myself) say, I'd suggest ordering a larger bag from another site (or from a local distributor).
Hoping the review helps you out.
The potted plants that received one azomite 'booster' have showed real improvement and started outgrowing the pots. I recommend starting with a small dose in the water as you water the plants. Be careful because you can 'burn' the soil if you overdo these 'boosters'. In my experience, once every six months for indoor/potted plants is sufficient.
The bad news is that these same soils are virtually devoid of nutrients and trace elements. Nute requirements are easily found and met with conventional fertilizer but trace elements are trickiest..and without trace elements, your grow will be spindly and lacking vigor regardless of how much fertilizer you use.
I tend to use organic fertilizers like blood meal, bone meal, fish and kelp meals to improve the potting mix at the first repotting as the plant is getting ready to put on a growth spurt of vegetation. This is also the most critical time to think of trace elements and Azomite is the vita meata vegemin for fast strong growth. A quarter cup mixed into 3-5 gallons of potting mix are often enough. Just be sure to balance your soil pH level with some calcium or lime at this point too so your plants are able to absorb their nutes without them being locked up in the soil matrix.
