When you're expecting you may notice you need as much support for your growing tummy as you do your aching back. Back 'N Belly's inner contours are designed to follow the natural curved shape of your body, no matter how you like to sleep. With its clever mirror image design there's no need to reposition it during the night, simply turn from side to side. Provides equal support for back and tummy at the same time. Elevates to help align hips for a neutral position to relieve strain on joints. You can even stack the 2 ends of the pillow to create a "double decker" upper or lower body support when extra elevation is needed. Includes sham-style removable cover that is machine washable. Intended for adult use only. The Back 'N Belly Original pillow weighs 7 lbs and is 51" long, 33.5" wide, and 8.75" in depth. Pillow Care: For best results, spot clean with soapy cloth to remove soils. Do not machine wash pillow. If your pillow starts to clump or becomes flat, fluff as you would any other pillow.
Pregnant moms who struggle to find a comfortable position will love the Leachco Back 'N Belly Contoured Body Pillow. Moms-to-be can sleep well and wake up without aches! The big, roughly U-shaped pillow has two contoured "legs" so you can sleep on your back or either side, tuck the end of the pillow between your knees, and elevate your head to ease heartburn.
The Back N Belly provides support for the back and belly at the same time. Simply reverse the ends of the body pillow for a "double decker" head support. It elevates and aligns the hips to help ensure a natural position, which relieves stress on joints. This Leachco body pillow helps relieve carpal tunnel, sciatica, gastric reflux, and nasal congestion.
The Back 'N Belly is made of cozy, warm polyester and comes with a custom cover case which can be removed for washing. It can be used in positions not shown in the illustrations: Mothers of different sizes, shapes, and sleep preferences can experiment, as many have, to find just the right configuration.See all Product description

Now that that's out of the way, I love this pillow, which I have lovingly named Phillow. I purchased this contoured body pillow because my SI joint popped out of place. At the time this happened (September 2013), I had no issues sleeping. As my injury recovered, my hips and lower back hurt more and more. At the beginning of the year, I went to the doctor, he told me the SI problems have caused my hip muscles to weaken and so on and so forth, so I started physical therapy.
My physical therapist told me to sleep with pillows between my legs, but being that I toss and turn when I sleep, it was quite inconvenient. Half my pillows ended up on the floor by morning, and my hips and lower back were aching something fierce by morning. I decided to look for a standard body pillow on Amazon, and this popped up in my search and I was smitten.
Its like the Mercedes Benz of body pillows, are you kidding?!? Had to have it! I added it to my wish list, and when I noticed it fluctuate in price dramatically (like a $30 decrease), GET IN MY CART!!
I was worried about the seam, but I've had little to no issue with it. I also sleep with two older and flatter pillows around the top part, so perhaps that's why? I only noticed the seam when I try to sleep with one arm under it. This however quickly cuts off my circulation in my arm (way faster than when you do this with a normal pillow), so I rarely sleep this way anymore.
Anyway, between working hard in PT to strengthen my hips, and I personally believe, using this pillow, I wake up with little to no hip pain anymore. However, like I said, I work really hard in PT as well as keeping up my routine throughout the week on my own. So if you are buying this for hip pain while sleeping, yes, I think this will help you. However, you should also try to increase strength in your hips and lower back to fully maximize its benefits overall.
Not sure if I'll ever go back to regular pillows though. Its quite comfy to sleep in, ridiculously comfortable actually. Its like my little sleeping nest. Taking the cover on/off for washing is a pain in the A, so I'm planning on buying a set of King pillowcases in my bedding colors and sewing the ends together so I can just put that on there. Easy on/off for washing. Took me almost 10 minutes to put the original case back on, not kidding, I timed it.
I have a queen bed and Phillow is right in the middle, with not a lot of space left on either side. I'm not sure how I feel about sharing my bed with anyone now that Phillow is in the picture, but luckily(?) I'm single, so we'll cross that bridge when it comes. The box it came in is quite large, but its to be expected, it isn't sent vacuum packed or anything.
If you are thinking about buying this, I would recommend adding it to your wishlist and watching the price. Almost everyday the price changed on this thing, I think I had it on my list for almost 2 weeks. When it was the lowest I've seen, I bought it. Worth it.
Many have complained about how the seam at the top of the pillow cuts into your shoulder, this is very true, but I'm such a short person (5'2) it doesn't bother me. The reason this seam cuts into your shoulder is because the case/cover is sewn straight across, instead of curved like it should be, because the pillow is curved shaped.
Curious, I decided to look at some of the overpriced "replacement" covers the manufacturer makes for these pillows, and all the descriptions for the new covers touted the bonus feature of having that irritating straight seam be curved (as it should have been from the beginning).
Um, not cool. It appears the manufacturer purposely made the default covers with a flaw to encourage buyers to also purchase their ridiculously expensive and over priced replacement covers! That's just fishy and dishonest in my opinion. It's a great pillow, but the price for a fully useable pillow apparently is higher than you think.
Gunther does take up quite a bit of the bed (we have a king, not sure how he'd work in a queen) - my husband has a love/hate relationship with him. But he's worth it for the last trimester of pregnancy. Happy wife and all. After deliver I learned that Gunther was handy during nursing sessions in bed - I didn't need to buy a separate nursing pillow, I just use Gunther! Storing him is a bit of a beast. He doesn't pack away nice and small. I'm lucky enough to have some closet space for him, I don't have any tips for someone who doesn't. Probably pack him in a large sack and stuff him under your bed.
