To say I was excited to read Lead is an understatement. I needed to peel Jimmy like an onion and see what was lurking beneath his expensive suits and death glares. But I needed help. Kylie Scott knew just the person. Lena Morrissey.
Lena is a no nonsense, don't take any crap from anyone kind of woman. Feisty and curvy and just who Jimmy needs to keep him in check. She is the rock that Jimmy desperately needs. The friend that he has never had.
In Lead, we learn just how broken Jimmy is. We learn about all the crap that he shielded David from. Even as an adult he tries to shield his brother from their money hungry, addicted mother. We begin to realize why Jimmy is such a jerk. It's easier to keep people at a distance rather then to let them in and hurt you. That is until Lena.
I LOVED that Jimmy and Lena went from barely tolerating each other to a friendship to lovers. I mean this is real life people! (winks). It was so funny to see that Jimmy had no clue that Lena was attracted to him.
"You're watching me all the time and it's f-ing creepy.I can't take it anymore."
I LOVED that when Lena started realizing that she was developing feelings for Jimmy she told him, and then he promptly told her that she was out of her mind and that there was no way she could like him that way.
"You'll get over this dumb crush you've got on me and I'll do us both the immense favor of forgetting this ever happened, okay?Read more ›
Jimmy, you kill me.
I can say without a doubt Lead is my absolute favorite of the series. I love Jimmy even more than Mal, which I didn’t know was possible. *Sigh* Jimmy is hotness incarnate and completely owns my heart! I loooooved reading his story so very much. I wish it never ended–I finished this book in a day. I never thought I’d be loving Jimmy this much (he’s not exactly an easy character to like in the previous books) but it took me less than a day to fall in love with him. God I love this man so freaking hard!
If you’ve read the previous book, Play, then you already know who the heroine of Lead is. Lena is Jimmy’s live-in assistant, the one who’s paid to keep an eye on him at all times to make sure he doesn’t relapse since coming out of rehab. I adore Lena. She’s absolutely perfect–she’s fiesty, sassy, a total smart*ss, and the perfect match for Jimmy. She’s the one who can stand up to him, but also support him in every possible way. She’s absolutely hilarious too!
"Dark hair fell over his face and collar, framing the cheekbones of an angel but the jaw of a stubborn child. Every other discernible inch of him appeared to be fully grown male. The way he held his jaw, however … well.
And the man might be pretty, but he sure as hell wasn’t nice. I’d met enough not-nice men to know. Trust me to find him attractive.
So I frowned straight back at him.
His glare went up a notch.
I matched it."
Lena is tough-as-nails, and I loved every single interaction she had with Jimmy. They first and foremost become friends, which is honestly the best way for these two to start their relationship, because Jimmy definitely isn’t ready for something more–yet.Read more ›
Lead is the third book in the Stage Dive Series and this is Lena's and Jimmy's story. I hadn't been a fan of Jimmy's up to this point, but once I started this one I found myself having all kinds of feelings for the other Ferris brother. Lena Morrissey, is by far my favorite heroine of this series thus far, spunky, snarky, stubborn, persistent, and the perfect match for the recovering addict that is Jimmy Ferris.
"The man was beautiful in much the same way as the stars."
Lena has been hired as Jimmy's assistant/sobriety coach, as he cannot seem to keep one for longer than a few days. Trust me when I say, Jimmy has met his match in Lena. She may find him sexy, and want him in her bed more than her next breath, but she refuses to pushed around by this man. She stands her ground, and gives it back to him even better than he gives it. She challenges him in every way, especially when it comes to dealing with his "issues" and feelings. Jimmy is more than content with avoidance in pretty much every aspect of his life, the exception being the band. We finally gain some insight into Jimmy's and David's childhood and their mother, it's heartbreaking, but it also explains why Jimmy is the way he is, and why he's struggled with addiction for years. When Jimmy and Lena finally settle into their "professional" relationship, they form an uneasy, explosive friendship and it evolves over time into something else entirely. The only problem with this is of course Jimmy, and his distaste for anything relationshippy.Read more ›
