Definitely worth the read. This explanation of how coherence, connection, agency, blessing and hope lead to life is appropriate for a small group conversation and as a series for presentation to a larger group. It bridges across those who describe themselves as "spiritual but not religious" to those who have strong ties to more traditional faith communities.

If you are tired of looking at pathology in people, grab this book. I bought two more copies to go along with the first one that has lived on my shelf and in my life for the past several years! Go get it and use it.

This is a very insightful book about how Methodist Hospital promotes health in Memphis TN. The emphasis is on promoting health, rather than just treating illness. If community leaders would read this book and implement the leading causes of life in their communities, large numbers of persons would benefit.

The book was not especially easy to read, but the information was extremely valuable. I highly recommend this book to people who are interested in the well-being of their communities.

I am a counselor who works on a psychiatric unit in a small community hospital. I used the concepts in this book to develop a therapy session for group therapy. Even though I may hold some different doctrinal opinions than the authors, I believe overall that their principles are doctrinally sound. This book opened my eyes to the fact that we generally focus on not dying, to a fault, and that we should concentrate more on living, and what it truly means to live. It has challenged my way of thinking.

I very much liked the book's focus on transformation through focusing on connection, coherence, agency, hope, and blessing. They did such a good job of this that I will long remember their 5 leading causes of life. Somehow I felt the book began to lose steam about 2/3 the way through. While the authors did point to many evidences of new life, I believe future efforts can improve their writing styles if they include the strongest, most salient stories of hope and new life further along in the book with some more nuanced ways of making their point in new, perhaps even poetic ways as they conclude.

It was an excellent read with great meaning of reasons to live, love, and be the persons God created us to be. This is part of a reading program in which I participate. I am very glad that I chose this book in that it gave more meaning to how I feel about life and how we need to live daily.

New names for old concepts. This book is boring, repetitive and often simplistic. The books value lies in the opportunity to bring people together and awaken them.
