This is Jennifer Dawson’s second book in the Love and Other Series but this time she weaves the story of Tessa and Xavier. Tessa is a die-hard romantic who describes herself as “a bit on the curvy side, falling just barely on the right side of plump” and Xavier is a dashing trauma surgical resident who epitomizes “ultimate fantasy material”. Because they have mutual friends, Tessa and Xavier have known each other for months. She has definitely noticed him; he remembers her.
Xavier is such a good guy. When we first meet him, he is dining with his grandmother on the most romantic of holidays, Valentine’s Day where Tessa is suffering through a blind date at the same restaurant. Recognizing that Tessa needs rescuing from the scumbag date, Xavier steps right up. Theirs is the story of two who didn’t know how much they needed each other.
I have never been disappointed in a Jennifer Dawson book. Never. And you won’t be either.
Tessa just wants one night of fun so she's hoping her blind date won't be another dud. Unfortunately that's exactly what he is. To make matters worse, Xavier Knight her big time crush, is on hand to witness the debacle. She can't believe her good fortune when Xavier comes to her rescue but she's sure he's just being nice. Someone like Xavier would never go for a simple girl like her. Or would he??
Definitely a book I recommend.
While this novella is the second book in the Love & Other Disasters series it can completely stand alone from the first book. In this novel, Dawson brings Tessa and Xavier together, friends of Ashley and Christopher (from book one.) In this book we see what happens when the shy, pretty and quiet school teacher, Tessa, decides to live life on the wild side and just go for it with Xavier, the Player extraordinaire she's always crushed on. But when things start heating up, will relationship-phobic Xavier step up to the plate or will Tessa realize she deserves more from a real man?
This book was absolutely amazing!! Pure FIREWORKS, FOLKS. And um can I just say that Ms. Dawson is the QUEEN OF sex scenes?! Good Lord! And Omg I loved Tessa sooo much. She is my FAVORITE heroine Ms Dawson has ever written. She was strong, assertive, empowered and so honest. She owned up to her feelings and just had fun. It was just so fantastic and refreshing to watch. Dawson wrote her so perfectly I began to root for her as if she was a girlfriend fooling around with the hottest boy in school and all I wanted to do was cheer and scream for her. All in all, Out of Her League was absolutely amazing! Bravo! 5 stars!
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the second in the Love and Other Disasters series and ends with an HEA. Tessa is a curvy second grade teacher with a longstanding, secret crush on her best friend's boyfriend's friend, Xavier. Tessa decides to go on a blind date on Valentine's Day and runs into Xavier waiting for his date. I love the description of the restaurant and how close together the tables are. I have been to places like that and could totally understand the frustration of feeling like you did not have any privacy.
>Xavier saves Tessa from her boorish date. As they get to know one another, Xavier spends more and more time with Tessa. Tessa feels blessed to have the attention from Xavier and honestly expects nothing from him. She enjoys what they have and throws Xavier for a loop with her unconventional attitude. He has never been in love, so doesn't recognize what is happening. Tessa just doesn't expect love. I felt sad for her, but I've been where she was.
>I love the way Xavier treats Tessa once he decides she deserves more. He treats her like a princess. The 'grand gesture' that Xavier makes to cement their relationship is the stuff romances are made of. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this story 5 stars.
