I highly recommend this book as a baby shower or new baby gift, and to kids ages 0-3. It also does not identify the relationship or genders of the frogs, so makes a great gift when you are searching for a book that does not specifically portray a mom, dad, and child.
The illustrations only add to the charm of this fun offering. Our little leaping frog is joyous and funny and kids will get a big kick out of seeing him fly across the sky like superman, and leap across the hilltop with a grin almost as wide as the page. These fun pictures are done in watercolors but are still vibrant and large enough to be enjoyed by a group. It also has a great read-aloud flow that makes it a perfect choice for story time or any young child's personal collection. Recommended.
The illustrations show a little green frog leaping over things, while mama sits home, quietly awaiting the return of her son. Wish mama would leap herself now and then, but a lovely and comforting book for a child.
"Leap frog over the owl's nest.
Leap frog over the trees.
Leap frogover the rocky hilltop,
then leap back home to me!"
