I was so excited when I found this. I purchased it for my daughter's 3rd b-day. She likes it but doesn't play with it as much as I expected. I think the reason is because of the three different play modes. If you have a scanner you want it to simply beep like the ones at the store. It does have this mode but it will say stuff like, " beep, moooo, one milk." Then you may scan it again and it might not beep at all. I've noticed that I can scan one item get a beep and description and then it goes into a song. That's a bit annoying when you want to play store checkout. Overall it is very cute and I would still purchase it.

Our son really enjoys using the Count and Scan Shopper. When it sings a song or plays a little tune, he dances. He knows how to scan the products, and has even picked up some words from it. This little toy teaches colors and counting, and will be a great learning tool for years to come. My only disappointment is that it warns right on the packaging that it should not be thrown or get wet...well, my toddler chews and drools on the grocery pieces, and tosses the scanner from time to time. I understand that kiddos need to treat toys with care, but I don't think expecting toys for young tots to be exceptionally durable is too much to ask for either. That said, we have had no problems with the functionality of the toy after said chewing, drooling, and tossing.

We have had the Pretend and Learn shopping cart in the past and this is a wonderful updated version of that toy. The scanner has different learning modes and will even say things when pressed up to any object, not just the food it comes with. It is so neat that it comes with a reusable shopping bad too! This was a great investment and another great product by Leapfrog!

I bought this for my son for Christmas but he plays with it a little rough and doesn't seem to get the point yet. He's a bit of a late learner due to a hearing problem we just had corrected. We also confused him a little by buying him a kitchen with play food so he wasn't sure what to scan so we had to be sure to separate the two foods. He does scan the food but doesn't know how to change the settings. I have noticed him going back to this toy and playing with it a few times throughout the week after Christmas and naming the foods and scanning them, now I just have to teach him not to play so roughly with it. It's a great toy for those learning numbers, colors, and foods. It has a lot more educational value than some of his other presents too.

The toy is adorable, and has many more features than I realized. The bag is really small. Fortunately, Santa Claus brought a grocery cart.
(If the groceries and scanner had a homing device, like "Find iPhone" would be even better. Actually, if EVERY toy had that, it would be perfect.)

My 2-year old likes this toy a lot. However, the settings don't allow just "scanning" play - like if we're playing grocery store. Every time it scans, it breaks out into song or says the item and number. Don't get me wrong, that's a fun feature, too. But unfortunately, this does not allow free play. It's still a great toy, but with that free play option, it would be perfect.

This is a cute toy and cute concept, but sadly, doesn't get played with all that much. I'm not sure why this gets left in the toy box. My daughter carries the bag and food around and calls it her "purse" instead of using the scanner to scan the food.
