About the Author
Dr Alex Davidovic is the expert for the rapid knowledge acquisition. His PhD on adaptive tutoring systems has served as the basis for developing the Computer Programming for Kids course, a host of numeracy and literacy applications, and the high-performing acoustic guitar tutorials. Following his graduation from the Music Academy in 1996, Milan Mitic performed in solo guitar concerts all over Europe. When asked about his favorite personal moments, Milan singled out the ovations he received at DEIA Music Festival in Palma De Mallorca, Spain, and the incredibly enthusiastic reception of his lectures at the Conservatory of Karditsa and Thessaloniki, Greece. Dr Alex and Milan and are the co-authors of the FAME (Fast Acoustic-guitar Mastery by Example) method for the rapid guitar mastery. This hands-on method combines the sheet music with studio recordings and step-by-step videos, making it possible to play the great tunes that students typically learn after 2 or 3 years of music school in a matter of weeks.

Now I admit to being a poor student. I need to *see* every detail about a hands-on operation, such as guitar playing, before I can absorb it and get my own fingers to do what they are supposed to do. It's like learning to use a computer. Printed instructions that are all text, that tell you what to do in words, can leave you not knowing what icon to click on or which key to press. That's why *pictures* and even videos are incorporated into every good computer instruction book. Pictures make the difference between a good book and an excellent book.
So I went back to the introduction and saw that I had to go to a particular website to see videos on that subject. I thought "the videos will show me exactly what to do." I happily went there and found many videos, one for each of the tunes in the book. Unfortunately, I found that, even though the videos are well produced, they don't get close up enough for me to see where the fingers and fingernails are actually touching the strings. Now, if I had a real instructor sitting down with me, I would be able to peer under his hand to see his fingertips and how they are touching and plucking the strings, and in precisely what order. But the videos that I saw do not get up close enough for me to do that.
So, the only reason I have for not giving this book five stars is that the videos are not close-up and detailed enough to instruct me how to place my fingers and fingernails on the strings, and in what order. If you have the ability to imagine what I cannot, then this book will be an excellent one for you on this subject.
I'm working on chords and some simple pics this week and learning on Christmas Carols makes tuning my "ear" all that much easier.
