About the Author

Leta Worthington has spent the last 20 years training, practicing, and teaching in the fields of animal communication, herbology, and other related areas. She has studied extensively with Penelope Smith and Jeri Ryan in animal communication, and with well-known herbalist and author Matthew Wood. Leta completed instructor training in animal communication with Penelope Smith and is listed in Penelope's International List of Telepathic Interspecies Communicators. Leta has also studied basic homeopathy with veterinarians Drs. Madalyn Ward and Christina Chambreau, and teaches a veterinarian-approved, homeopathic first-aid-for-animals workshop. Horses being one of Leta's passions, she also trained with Linda Tellington-Jones in her innovative approach to working with and understanding horses, TT.E.A.M., and attained the first practitioner level in this method. Leta's practice has included communicating with all manner of animals, plants, and nature spirits. She has regularly collaborated with veterinarians to assist in identifying challenging physical issues and to help resolve the psychological and emotional roadblocks that frequently hinder the healing process. She has worked extensively with flower essences and has successfully formulated a unique set of over 40 of them from Texas Hill Country wildflowers. Leta is also a painter and focuses on animals as her subjects, portraying each animal's unique personality and spirit through her work. She has made two lengthy trips to Africa and has dedicated proceeds from prints of one of her elephant paintings to help further research for the African Elephant, Loxodonta Africana, spearheaded by the non-profit organization Elephants for Africa. After a move from Texas to New Mexico in 2008, Leta now lives and works at Sol y Cielo (Sun & Sky), her 40-acre compound in the Ortiz Mountains just south of Santa Fe, with her large, multi-species family. Animals are pretty much my life. I not only live with them (2 horses, 5 dogs, 3 cats, and 7 chickens at present), but communicating with them is my profession: I do consults for clients and their animals and teach others to communicate with animals as well. So, naturally, I write about them, and about "animal communication." Kids are always interested in talking to animals, so check out "The Case of the Bedridden Bunny - The Adventures of Sally Salazar, Teenage Pet Psychic," for ages 5-6 to 9-10. And I have an ongoing blog--"A Day in the Life...of an Animal Communicator"--which I hope you will visit soon too.

A Wonderful, Caring Primer if you Love Animals

I ordered this book thinking that I would get a few "tips" on animal communication. What a surprise to find myself completely drawn into the world of figuring out how to communicate with my horses! This book conveys a clear sense of how sensitive our animals are and how much we have to learn about how (and if) they wish to communicate with us. I started the book assuming that one could just strike up a conversation, just maybe in a different manner. But I was humbled to learn (and accept) that we really are so presumptuous, us humans. It made complete sense to me as Leta Worthington described the importance of asking permission to communicate. This book is written in a warm, caring and completely knowledgeable tone and I found myself learning not only about what my horses may need to communicate but how I could learn a much better, holistic approach to them. This book is not lengthy but contains a wealth of information. I'll pick it up and read it over and over and maybe, someday, make it to one of Leta Wothington's workshops! If you want to expand who you are, this book is worth your time.

I haven't quite finished the book because I keep going back to practice, practice, practice. But what I have learned so far has been very helpful with my horses. One of the greatest gifts the book has had me see is how important it is to ask permission when working with our animal friends. Now, when I ask if they want to go out for a walk or if its ok for me to work on their feet, I usually get a great response. Its much easier than I ever thought. I still struggle with getting any psychic messages or images from them but I am generally understanding their body positions and attitudes much better. I would highly recommend this book for any horse enthusiast or anyone interested in communicating with the animal world.

I am enjoying this book very much. It carefully and thoughtfully explains aspects of communicating with animals. It is very clearly written and has exercises to increase our abilities to understand the animals around us and those who live with us. The book also includes a number of stories and examples of animal communication. For example, some of the animals welcome the interaction, while others take time to get to know you and to trust you.

Animal communication may not be something we regularly think about, but it is a skill that can be learned. That allows us to have better interactions with the animals in our lives and helps us to understand and better interact with each other. I highly recommend this well written book and the author.

Imbued with humor, pathos and a lifelong knowledge and intuition of animals, Leta takes you through some interesting case studies in the course of teaching people what they need to know to understand what their animals might be saying. The book resonates with truth while offering real practical advice, and Leta's conversational style will appeal to a wide audience of animal lovers. It also makes you realize that many can have the gift of speaking to animals, not just a rarified few. Kudos on a wonderful, entertaining and informative read!

Is This Witchcraft?!

That's my only concern. I'm a Christian & I consider witchcraft evil, even if it means well because we should rely on God, not magic. Witchcraft is real (Jeremy Wade from River Monsters went to a local witchdoctor for help when trying to catch a goliath tigerfish,and succeeded) so I try to avoid it. Although I really want to talk to animals, plants, & rocks it isn't worth sinning. I can say it works though. One time I tried this stuff to get my cat off the table and she made a bee line for the chair!!!!!!!!! These methods are also good for helping me fall asleep! LOL :)

I've consulted animal communicators and have found them to be dead-on in most cases and I was looking for a way I could communicate with my own pets on a day-to-day basis. While I haven't yet been able to put some of the excercises in play, I could relate to a lot of the things the author says - particularly about communication with images and the feeling of 'knowingness'. I definitely recommend this book to those with open minds and hearts!

I have had the fortune of having Leta help me with my little ones for many years.All the readings have always been exquisite and right on.
When my 11 year old black lab died, it was the hardest thing I ever had to go through, we were inseparable, and Leta helped us communicate and be able to let go of each other.
This book is a testament of her sensitive, and marvelous ability.
I already talk to my pet compannions now, but with her help, and now this book I can sense better what is happening.

This book is a practical guide for communication with all types of animals. Leta takes the readers step-by-step on how to open your heart and mind to this process. I've taken Leta's workshop on animal communication and this book is a fabulous companion book. It reinforces workshop concepts and goes into more depth than the workshop time frame allows. The most helpful concept to me is the "Doubt Box" and how to learn to trust the information that I receive. This book is logically presented and most insightful.
